I ran my server using Bukkit for a few hours and I have a 2.5gb text file called server.txt in the directory. In my non-bukkit directory the text file is only 155kb. Also, when running bukkit, the Java CMD window scrolls by endlessly at the speed of light writing data to the text file. How do I stop this from happening?
My server doesn't generate any server.txt. Maybe you mean server.log? This would make sense, as the console output will be written to the server.log. Also which build and plugins are you using? What happens if you deactivate all builds? Also what is the content of the console? Fabian
You're correct in that it's the server.log file, it just opens as a .txt I'm using the newest build of Bukkit as found in the "How to install Bukkit (newb friendly!)" topic on the forums here. The plugins I'm using are MonsterHunt, FarmMaster, BigCatch and FindMe. I'll try to paste some of the contents, but it quickly fills up to the point that notepad no longer opens it... 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.World.a(World.java:1011) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.WorldServer.a(WorldServer.java:53) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.World.f(World.java:993) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.World.d(World.java:970) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.h(MinecraftServer.java:335) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.run(MinecraftServer.java:253) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.ThreadServerApplication.run(SourceFile:366) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [INFO] Chunk (-5, 11) stored at (-5, 13) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] java.lang.Throwable 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.LongHashtable.get(LongHashtable.java:31) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.ChunkProviderServer.b(ChunkProviderServer.java:107) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.World.c(World.java:202) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.World.b(World.java:1553) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.EntityLiving.q(EntityLiving.java:668) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.EntityMonster.q(EntityMonster.java:30) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.EntitySkeleton.q(EntitySkeleton.java:56) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.EntityLiving.f_(EntityLiving.java:230) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.EntityMonster.f_(EntityMonster.java:34) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.World.a(World.java:1011) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.WorldServer.a(WorldServer.java:53) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.World.f(World.java:993) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.World.d(World.java:970) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.h(MinecraftServer.java:335) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.run(MinecraftServer.java:253) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.ThreadServerApplication.run(SourceFile:366) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [INFO] Chunk (-5, 11) stored at (-5, 13) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [INFO] net.minecraft.server.Chunk 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] java.lang.Throwable 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.ChunkProviderServer.b(ChunkProviderServer.java:115) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.World.c(World.java:202) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.World.b(World.java:1553) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.EntityLiving.q(EntityLiving.java:668) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.EntityMonster.q(EntityMonster.java:30) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.EntitySkeleton.q(EntitySkeleton.java:56) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.EntityLiving.f_(EntityLiving.java:230) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.EntityMonster.f_(EntityMonster.java:34) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.World.a(World.java:1011) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.WorldServer.a(WorldServer.java:53) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.World.f(World.java:993) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.World.d(World.java:970) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.h(MinecraftServer.java:335) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.run(MinecraftServer.java:253) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.ThreadServerApplication.run(SourceFile:366) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [INFO] Chunk (-5, 11) stored at (-5, 13) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] java.lang.Throwable 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.LongHashtable.get(LongHashtable.java:31) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] at net.minecraft.server.ChunkProviderServer.b(ChunkProviderServer.java:107) 2011-02-26 06:04:42 [SEVERE] This goes on and on and on at the speed of LIGHT and never stops. It generates literally thousands of lines per second. Edit: I'd also like to note that it does not do this if I generate a new world using Bukkit, it's only when I bring my old world (1.2 converted to 1.3) over to the Bukkit folder. But starting a new world is not an option, we have so many hours of things built.. hundreds.
I'd advise you to use pastebin.com. As posting huge walls of text can be classed as spamming. That file isn't too important. Just ctrl+a the contents and delete. Save it and do so again when you need to.
what i suggest you do is remove one plugin at a time and restart the server, continue doing that until you find the plugin thats giving errors. Also, since its moving lightning fast, the server will lag. (Mine did) Also, i noticed a chunk isn't moving right. you need to manually delete the file from the world folder. sadly, since your using MCRegion to generate maps. you'll hyave to delete 32X32 chunks OR, if you got a backup ofthe map and the new one isn't much newer, re-convert it after solving the issue. (I forgot how to manually delete chunks... ill tell you how after i find out how) Read my next post ok. i got it go to these folders: 1N/D then, cut everything from there and place it somewhere else (Desktop i guess) and do the same for: 1N/B This SHOULD fix it. i had the exact same thing happen to me. (IDK if i did it right... I'm pretty sure i did) The map used to have chunks. all Base36, basically sorting out the .dat files hard to explain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base_36 EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.
That is a bad advise. As you see in his post he got a error message every time. So important log messages get lost. Also the notepad program maybe has problems to load huge files. Why don't delete the file instead. Same result and easier. @Tame: You could force the server to stop with Ctrl+C. Then you could prevent the logger from generating a huge file and get the first (initializing) lines. There is also the build number given, because your description of your build number doesn't say anything, because often the number increases and almost everybody uses “0.0.1” although they are different. And as RightLegRed said, use pastebin.com or set this inside of [code]-Tags. Fabian
Notepad is a piece of crap... get textpad or notepad++ won't fix your server problems, but it will let you view your log
Hey guys, I disabled and removed all of my plugins and still get the spam of [SEVERE] over and over and over. I do not have a backup of my map from before 1.3, and my only 1.3 backup does the exact same thing as this one does. I'm going to try the 1N/D and the 1N/B thing and report how that works out. Edit: Even upon system searching for 1 N/D and 1N/B there's nothing. There's no area I can find this at and there's definitely nothing like it in the world folder. Edit2: Here's my text file that I just generated to see if it helps. http://pastebin.com/DLmv2SF0 --- merged: Feb 27, 2011 7:39 AM --- Are bumps allowed here? It's been 12 hours and no response. I really would like to play my server again. --- merged: Feb 27, 2011 11:10 AM --- Anyone out there? Hello? This seems like someone with some Java know how should be able to help me.. should I take this to the Minecraft.net forums?
Try using a new map (move your normal one to another folder while you test , or just rename it) and see if you still get all those errors. It's really the only thing left to try if you have removed all the plugins already.
New world generates no errors. My old world is a 1.2 world converted to 1.3 via Minecraft_Server.exe and ported over to Bukkit. There has to be a way to fix this, I'm convinced there is. Another reason I am is because there's absolutely no errors running under Minecraft_Server.exe, only Bukkit. Thanks. --- merged: Feb 28, 2011 6:38 AM --- I'm about to give up, anyone have an idea?
I patched the file causing it, make sure to backup your world before trying this fix. Open CraftBukkit.jar in WinRAR or another archiver and replace "net/minecraft/server/ChunkRegionLoader.class" with the file included in the attached zip.
Can you include the source for your fix (or even better, maybe submit it as a pull to CraftBukkit). It looks like there is some issue with the custom hash table that Bukkit uses, did you fix the table or just remove the error message?
See my other thread, the bug is actually a bug in the vanilla minecraft server, and the problem was made worse because some Bukkit developer accidentally left some debugging code in.
I have the same problem... damn I hope this fix works... I wanna get my server up again! --- merged: Feb 28, 2011 6:14 PM --- OMG DUDE @XeonProductions I COULD KISS YOU RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(sorry for that). I am so fucking happy you fixed my problem yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Thanx a lot dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I submitted a pull request on mc-dev, im not sure if we're supposed to be making updates to the server directly or make a custom CraftBukkit version of the problem file...
Thanks SO much as I just saw this thread ago and JUST had the same error, fixed! But now I still do get some errors when starting, any idea? http://pastebin.com/n6ihDWiJ
