So according to this list Server 2003 isn't an option? Because I need a firm yes or no. My dad and I are trying to build a server machine that can run Bukkit through Java.

Why wouldn't it? Any OS that has Java should run Minecraft.

Yes, Windows 2003 will run Craftbukkit fine. If you have any issues you can PM me and I can help.

    Thats for java 7,
from the install instructions for java 6:
Platform(s): Windows 8, Windows 7, Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows 2008 Server
    Java version(s): 6.0, 7.0

So not sure if java 7 will work.
    Just try and see?

It should run fine, just make sure you have a fast enough upload and download speed, and RAM.

I would reccomend using a Linux distro like Ubuntu Server or CentOS, as they have light memory usage, doesn't hog resources as much as Windows.

Thanks. I'll let my dad know about that.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions about Java and Server 2003 that they would like to share with me?

A Linux Distro, they are free and not as outdated as windows 2003. I personally use Ubuntu Server.

Like others have said, you should go for Linux. I use Ubuntu myself. ;)
