What are Protocol Hacks?

    Recently, I've been seeing a lot of posts on here being locked because of 'Protocol Hacks'
    What are those?

    Are they plugins like ProtocolSupport, ViaVersion, ProtocolLib, etc?
    And if yes, then why are they not allowed here? What's bad about them?

    Please tell me :)

    @maehb ProtocolSupport and ViaVersion are protocol hacks yes.
    They are that because they hack the protocol to support multiple versions (like your server seems to be doing)

    What is bad about them is that they change how things work. It is always a 1.7 server that allows to 1.16.5 to join, that is not without risks.
    I don't see why people would do that anyways, what is wrong with having a single version? Not that hard for the user to switch.
