    Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
    As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.​
    As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.​
    This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.​

    About:
    Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.​
    Features:

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.

    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.

    I'm getting more and more inclined to the fact that my permissions file has to be reconfigured all over again...

    As you can see there's nothing related to the residence plugin on my permissions file, so that might be my problem...

    I'm really getting frustrated here... did a bit more search on youtube and found out on some comments that the residence plugin differs from server to server according to the configs that each have, which led me to the conclusion that my configs are malformed :S

    I really need help here, this is the only plugin I can't get to work right and it's the most important one that I need to be working.

    Would someone explain how to use this with Essientials GroupManager? My group "Users" cannot build, use in the residence area. I applied the defaults to true and it wont accept...

    What is wrong with this? You can clearly see the groups in GroupManager match those in Residence. What am I missing?

    What is the problem?
    The problem is, the Groups in Essentials work, the Groups in Residence, also seem to work apart from being added to the residence. However, users Such as "Builders" cannot build, use, or open contains as they should. The game still leaves them in default group from Residence...How to fix this?

    Found the Culprit behind the Group Permissions Issue. It's VAULT! Removing VAULT fixes the Group Issue using Essentials and PEX but you lose Economy System, Adding VAULT fixes the Economy system, but you lose permissions. What a choice to make...gay. FIX IT

    You could try to open Residence.jar and there open plugin.yml.
    You should see a line "softdepend: [Vault]". Change it to "softdepend: [Essentials,Vault]"
    Just guessing, I use 2.5.1 and CB 1938. Essentials loads after Residence on my server.

    @Author:
    If I move into my forbidden map border (north side) i always come out behind it (eastside of it) after relogging in.
    I forbid the movement in this world outside of any zones and if I'm already in such place, nothing happens.
    Could you please change this behavior to teleport players to spawnpoint instead of kicking them?
    Maybe you could alter the method to check a players position directly. If it is already like this, I don't get why it doesn't find a player that is outside any residence.

    although i might be a dumbass for asking but... how can i change the max area Like when i try to res a 20x10 area is says "This area is to large"c=Please help?
