    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Added "piston" flag.
    v2.3.4
    • Fixes for CB1000

    • If the save file errors, it will now be preserved rather then overwritten, it will be renamed res-ERRORED.yml, the plugin will now disable itself upon error as well unless the StopOnSaveFault option in the config is set to false.

    • Fixed residences not being properly removed from lease / rent system, upon deletion.
    • Fixed bug related to default group option in the config.
    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    • Fixed a bug causing money to still be charged when failing to add a area to a residence.

    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.
    • New Developer API, including custom Bukkit events.

    Sounds good, two question however.
Is it possible to turn off the teleport features?
Also is it possible to allow players to define smaller areas inside your protected area?

This plugin sounds great by the way, can't wait to test it out on my server.

For your first question, the land owner can turn it off by simply denying access to it, however theres not yet anyway to permanetly disable it so that it can't be turned back on. I will be implementing a global configuration in the config file to add that ability :) For your second question, no there is no overlapping of areas at all at the moment. I can look into making it possible, but I'll have to think it over as it may would lag the server more. I have not been able to test this large scale as I don't have a large server myself, but I have designed it to be as lag free as possible. Let me know how it works out :)

Looking forward to the global configuration as i run a proper survival server where players have to walk rather than zip around the map magically.

As soon as this feature is possible ill be able to test this plugin for you extensively.
Perhaps add a permission node for teleporting to residences?

anti mob spawn, or remove mob per # of seconds, this is an excellent plugin and what I was looking for.

I also agree that there should be Teleportation in a config or something.

If possible (later updates) could you put a Parent land (mayor/king).

I was looking at Towny but there was some major issues that I had with it, and this mod seems more fixed on each block (nice) then it is for each Entire chunk. I also think that there should be a simpler item (or modified item) like a single plank would make a special stick that does this rather then an axe.

I'll be sure to use your mod for sure, I hope more people will help work on it.

  8. Isn't Z axis up/down ?

Ok yea, il make it a permissions node :D Thats even better then a config option.

Hmm, now that should be possible... Like linking lands basically so you can control the permissions of all your lands at once :)

In a normal game / real world you would be right.... in minecraft, no its the Y axis.... yea doesn't make sense to me either

Ok 1.0.1 is out, just added the teleport config option real quick. :) Let me know how it works

Use the residence.tp permission node or if not using permissions, you can set it in the config.yml instead.

how the heck do you remove a residence?

And how do you set permissions for people to move through the area?

  11. Offline

    bekvon

    /res remove <ResidenceName>

    /res pset <ResidenceName> <PlayerName> move true
OR, to allow everyone to move through by default:
    /res set <ResidenceName> move true

Basically whenever you want to set a flag on another player you use 'pset' and when you want to do it on the whole area you just use 'set' Possible flags for players are: build, move, use, tp, admin

If you're up for it - I have some great configurations you can add it to make this one of the ultimate protection plugins...

1st: Separate permissions based on the user or group - meaning VIP's could have a 50x50x50 area and a Default user could have 25x25x25 area.
2nd: Permission nodes for restriction of Monsters / Creeper Damage / Blacklisting Areas, example. VIP has residence.creeper & resident.monster - yet the Default user would only have resident.blacklist & monster.
3rd: Ability for the "owner" of the region to make a temp group list of user names, it would mimic the group lists that may be found in a permission files. So if they have 10 friends they want to be able to edit their area (or town) they would simple do /res REGION addgrp grpname ... /res REGION grp add PLAYERNAME. So when they have to define a new residence all they would have to do is /res REGION allow grp

Alright thanks, and it looks like you updated the list on the first post a bit. Can you update the list again and put valid flags to use? I was very confused about that until your last post.

hey i was really looking for a plugin like this but my plan is this:
have city owners be able to protect their areas and add members to it so they can build inside and expand that same region they protected.

can this offer that or no?

Ill be testing this one on my server this afternoon. This plugin looks very promising.

I agree that the ideas provided by Kainzio would vastly improve this plugin and I also hope that sometime in the future it is possible for other players to have residences inside a players residence (If allowed).

This would allow players who form a city/town together to keep their stuff protected from other members of the town whilst the owner could protect the town overall.

Is it just in my server that doors can be opened even if use is disabled for everyone?
I hope that if it is not, you make that addition to your plugin :D
    Amazing work, keep working :)
Also, it took me some time to learn how to select the area for the residences. Maybe you could make a little tutorial so we can get the best from your plugin.

    bekvon

Aye it does, I just forgot to add it to the feature list :)

You can blacklist players. You can set the move flag to true for a area to allow everyone and then specifially deny players move rights by setting their move flag to false.

Hmm, I'll look into why doors aren't working. I was testing the use flag using chests and I just assumed if it blocked chests it would block doors too. Il look into it.

    Got another question for you.

With the damage prevention does that mean by default players inside another persons residence cannot die or be harmed?

If so is there a way to prevent this or perhaps add a permission node so only admins can make areas in which players cannot die?

EDIT: After some testing it also seems that adding the monsters flag to true that monsters but not friendlies can spawn. Perhaps add another flag for friendlies? never-mind found that to be caused by another plugin

Multi-world support is very needed, I believe we'll be moving from WorldGuard/Regions because the lack of support.

Apart from what I already listed - the real thing missing is Pylons :p

How about some buying/selling of residences since iConomy support is already in.
Perhaps a spot in the config file for assigning the item used for setting residence size.
Also, individual permissions for each flag might be nice too, with a default true/false setup in the config file.

    Hey,
Thanks for making this AMAZING plugin! I hated Towny and it's super clumsiness! But on to my pressing matter, every time I log out of my server that I manage the "residencies" disappear, but I can still see them on the list of residencies... I don't know if this is a common bug or in reading I may have missed that it has some kind of dependency. Message me and I will send you a list of my plugins and you can tell me if any of them are not good bedfellows.

    Cheers,

Hmm, can you look in your server log and see if when the server starts up Residence throws out some kind of error message? It should throw out some kind of error if it fails to load the file. Also, whenever the server shuts down, it saves the residences, can you see if theres any error messege there either? Thanks.

That sounds good :) Probbably not too hard to do at all either.

When you say dissapear, you mean they are show up in "list" still but they are not where they are supposed to be? That seems very odd, can you look and see if on server startup / shutdown there is any errors thrown out from Residence about failing to save / load from file?

    ----

After reading a bit more, I may have to re-invent my save system to file system since you guys are having lots of trouble with this system. It was origionally just going to be a temporary system anyway, but I went ahead and decided to try to use it. Back to the drawing board on that one :)

Ummmmm... No errors. Like none at all. Everything is work as it thinks it should. That is why I thought that it may be a conflict of plugins...

I checked it again, and I even looked at the info. The location and amount of blocks that is defined is correct, but no longer do I see "Entering residence: ???" nor does it use the flags that I applied. Thanks so much for looking into this for the community.

    Cheers,
