    Introduction to Heroes
    Heroes is a dynamic, flexible and highly configurable class, skill and experience system. Heroes itself is the hub of your players RPG experience, boasting classes, multi-tiered and fully fleshed out. Along with classes, Heroes offers your players a new style of PvP through our well-developed skill system and our weapon + armor restrictions. No longer will your mages have the ability to use diamond swords, your rogues will no longer sneak around in their heavy diamond tunics and most importantly, you can now hurl fireballs and stun your targets. The best part of this? It's your choice how your Heroes is set up, don't want a certain skill, that's fine, you can just remove the skill and be done with it! We're working towards making everything about Heroes configurable.

    What can I do with it?
    With Heroes, you can do almost anything you'd want to do on an RPG server. The main feature is our customizable tiered class system, which offers as much to the server owner as possible. Your Heroes could be totally unique to your server, it could be the reason players play your server over a server with Heroes but a different set up. The same can be said about our skill system, it's unique to any of the other RPG plugins out there. Other plugins dub "Skills" as methods which you level up, this isn't the case with Heroes. Skills are things you can do which are unique to your class. Some of our favorite skills are Fireball, Jump and Port. This is what makes Heroes unique.

    What will you help me with?
    We'll help you with errors. That is where it ends. We will not be supporting your issues with your configuration files unless it's a bug within our code. Heroes is a big plugin and it's taken a few months to develop, we don't want to spend the next few months supporting silly issues rather than developing new and awesome features. Posting in this thread with an issue regarding a YML file will get you ignored. We'll be OK with helping you understand the configuration files, but we will not be fixing them for you.

    Where can I download it?
    You can download the latest recommended build here. You can download only the primary Heroes jar or the primary jar along with all the skills provided in a ZIP archive. Each skill inside the ZIP is enclosed in it's own jar, meaning you can pick and choose what skills you want your server to run. This is so you don't have un-necessary weight on your server.

    This is going to come off a bit harsh but there's no avoiding it.

    Please stop spamming this thread with inane bullshit. Those of us with actual requests, bug reports, and feature requests are being buried under piles of "OHGODWAITABSBREAKYAML." Learn how to fucking use permissions, yaml parsers, or even how to turn on whitespace characters in something like notepad++ FFS. If all else fails please visit

    Skills ignore no PvP areas (think Spawn areas) such as those enforced by worldguard, etc (any plans to handle this?) Also, as I stated before, you're probably aware of it, but many skills when fading display "%skill%" in the deactivation message. Just a heads up.

    A future 'feature' i would like to see is a "delay" on the skill-used / cooldown / no target / target is already on full health texts (i am sure there are more that i forgot)..

    ie; if a player 'spamm' clicks a skill each time he tries to use a skill a message pops up atm.. Those can get really annoying after a while...
    So the idea would be instead to show him the message once and then (countdown) from a configurable value before showing it again...

    I am just wondering if u could provide an exampple on how to do the permission-skills because i dont find it clear on how we are suppose to add those (like herosneak and iconomychestshop) if u could show it on my config for my class files

    Not all skills no PVP - just a select few with certain effects, Bolt / Fire stuff. Most do not, Harmtouch / Smite - etc. We'll look into fixing it.
    We'll have a toggle to not have skill display messages at some point, sorta low priority at this moment.

    Use PVP mode off in groups - we're not looking into having classes not being able to attack each other. Defeats the point - get with something like Factions.

    I had this idea for new skill

    Pickpocket - Takes xx Currency/Random Item or both, tho does not work 100% of the time at least not until implimentation of the Skill mastery like when skills skill level increases with level.

    Evening, been encountering an error that restarts the server when encountered. We have been able to replicate this every time.

    Player1 has 5 health remaining and is hit by another player spell that deals 10 damage. Server reboots. I can prevent this by
    setting 'useDamageSystem: false' in the config.yml. We have tried this with a few spells in every case if the incoming damage points is higher than the remain health on the player with hit the error below. Any ideas off hand? I havent seen this posted so it makes me wonder what I could be missing.

    Love the plugin so far, very flexable.

    For passive skills like Shield, in the cooldown section and the Mana section, what would be appropriate to insert?The word "Passive" or "0"?And what does the abbreviation "MP" stand for on your guys' Wiki?And do the Passive skills take up Mana?

    I assume it's "Mana Price" or something along the lines of Mana usage.

    How do you get mana costs on permission skills (if it can be done)? For example, for a particular class I got a skill that allows you to summon monsters which comes from a different plugin. How can I make it so it cost, for example, 15 mana? Tried putting 'mana: 15' under level but it doesn't look like it's doing anything.

    BTW great plugin. Using this to help make my friends server.

    Use a YML parser.
    You cannot use mana costs for Permission-Skills. It is handled by the PLUGIN that you are using If the plugin wants to hook into our mana, then sure you can do it.

    This is strictly my view on how classes should work from feedback on our server that cooldowns spam and just annoy everyone I combat this with higher mana use.
    When looking at mana for the melee style class's I imagined it as energy so keep this in mind.

    Some of you seem to have bit of trouble setting up classes in terms of what cooldown and mana cost to use so here is something I am using and will share its pretty good so far "90% of skills available assigned to class's" but no doubt balance issues still exist.

    4 - path classes
    2+ Specs for each

    My config has been working fine now just over 24 hours no YML errors detected its been checked a lot by an online praser.

    I still plan to adjust the skill damages and things in future also you might want to adjust the archer class so the "summonarrows" skill uses mana not a cooldown or make cooldown a lot less.

    I had it set to 1m as a test to see if you got a stack of arrows or 1 arrow you only get 1 arrow so prob set cooldown to something like 5s or 3s "5000,3000"

    Hope you guys like my config feel free to adjust it as you see fit.

    P.S I am actually wanting feedback on this template/setup, let me know what u think in a constructive manner.

    We found a fix to this problem though I not sure why. We had the 'base-max-health:' in classes.yml for a couple classes set to 25 for example, any class that did not end in an even max health number would cause a restart. Changing it to 30 in this example fixed the issue. If anyone else would like to test to confirm the same result, easy fix thats worth mentioning. So we are running fine without errors with 'useDamageSystem: true' in the config.yml
