So i run a pvp server with 34 plugins, i will list them below. I have reason to believe that some of the plugins if not all of them combined create problems with my server including lag and crashing. I look at the statistics on the hosts website i use to manage my server and it says the cpu is reaching 180. I would just like to know if there is anything i can do to lower the cpu usage of the plugins with the server. Also would upgrading the ram i have help to bear the load of the plugins? This is the list of my plugins. AutoAnnouncer BoosCooldown Buycraft ChatManager Chestshop CombatTag CreativeGates Economypunga Essentials, essentials chat, essentials spawn Factions Iconomy Jail jCommands Mcmmo Mobarena Mobdisguise ModifyWorld MoneyDrop Multiverse NarrowtuxLib Nocheat PermissionsEX PrivateWarp Teleconfirmlite TopPVP Vault Votifier World Edit Worldguard
Yes but Factions is one of my most important plugins. Is there any way to reduce the cpu usage apart from removing some plugins?
I'm not sure, i did a bit of research and my host uses one of these for my server Dual Intel L5640's (24 cores) @ up to 2.8Ghz with 24-48GB RAM Dual Intel 5520's (16 cores) @ up to 2.53Ghz with 24GB RAM Single Intel E3-1270's (8 cores) @ up to 3.8Ghz with 8GB RAM Could the lag created by cpu usage also be caused by out-dated plugins? it might be, i have about 40K cpu being consumed up with my server, and i have a lot of outdated plugins. now you put the thought in my head, that may well be the problem.
Outdated plugins are always a CPU killer. As well, if you can, lower the number of plugins you use (i.e. Find a plugin with all the features of a couple of other plugins) For example, i had 20 some plugins, now i have like 15. I was able to change; SpamGuard, NoSwear, NoCheat <--All in to-->NoCheatPlus As well as SafeCreeper, UselessTNT, PVParena, Fireblock <--All in to--> World Guard Hope I helped, Tyler
