Permissions: Click a sign to join a group?

I really hope I can do this on a Bukkit server:
As you join the server you are a Noobie, then you go through a quick school and click a sign at the end to be a Miner, Hunter or Farmer.
You can then later make iconomy money to pay for a course at the college to get a better jobrank.
Each rank has special perms for instance Cartographers may enter the Map Shop's back room but nobody else is allowed.
Is this possible and can somebody help me with it?

I use Signrank on my server. When someone clicks on a sign it will promote them to the rank on it. you can find the plugin here:

You will be able to enter The permissions for each rank in the permissions plugin you have. I use permissionsex but other will do the job just as well.
