Move saved server world to craftbukkit

    Hello everyone,

I am new to both minecraft and serving minecraft alike. My son has finally talked me into playing on a private server with him. Naturally, I am the one that gets left with the 'figuring out of things.' All in all, getting the plain server set up and running was not that difficult to do. We have started a world and have quite a bit of time in it now.

I would really like to use craftbukkit to serve the world we play in instead of the vanilla server (the minecraft_server.exe from the main page of minecraft) I use currently. I have not been able to figure out how to move the world we have all our save data in so that craftbukkit loads it up like the minecraft_server.jar file does.

I am using Windows 7, ver 1.6.6 for minecraft, and the latest recommended build of craftbukkit snapshot (860). The server does "load" a world, just not the one we have saved. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I did a search to see if there was another thread similar, but I didnt find one. I am sure others have wanted to do this and it is probably already answered somewhere on the forum, so my apologies in advance for my general "newbness."

One other thing I would really like to do is somehow regenerate health with spawn-monsters=true or some way to give health when times are tough and no porkchops are available.

Well, This is easy. If you already have the Craftbukkit server up and running (Just not the right world) First copy your world from the vanilla minecraft folder into the main directory of your new craftbukkit folder. Then all you have to do is open the "" file in notepad and change the "level-name=world" to "level-name=*insert the folder name of your world here*" Then delete the old world from the craftbukkit directory.

Let me know if you have any problems!

    thank you for the reply.

I will do that just as soon as I get done sorting out a rather large directory I have here... (~not related to minecraft)

    much appreciated!

It worked perfectly! Thanks a lot for the help! :)

Any chance you, or anyone else, know the answer to how I can regenerate health with spawn-monsters=true or either another way to give health when a player has few hearts and no pork-chops are available?

Or if you use essentials you can type /heal <user>

So if someone were to heal me they would type /heal anonymous

I have just moved my minecraft server world to craftbukkit, but I am having a small problem.
When I start up the new server I can't destroy blocks or place them in the areas I have discovered and built in on my old server :S:S
Is there a fix for this ?
