http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/multiverse-core/ you can use their portals to go between worlds. If not then there are other plugins that do the warps like you say. I'm not sure which because I've never done it like that.
If it's server to server teleportation, then they were probably using http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/bungee-cord/
