Minecraft Server Donations Legal Concerns

    in holland you wont have to pay tax over a donation that is made by someone which lives in a foreign country for longer than 10 years.

    As long as your yearly income of "donations" is under $2000, the IRS will leave you alone.

    You pay taxes on profit, not income. As long as your expenses outweigh your income, you don't need to pay taxes, however you still need to file taxes. Saying that your payments are excluded from tax because you plaster the word "Donation" everywhere is bogus. They are not donations, they are payments.

    In fact, how this whole donation fiasco started was because individuals made private servers for games that were actually illegal, and they thought by plastering the word "Donation" everywhere it would somehow make it not illegal. Yeah...

    But yes, Mojang does not care if people make money with their game, and they could not have expressed this enough. Servers are making 250k a month now and Mojang seems to endorse them more than anything.
