Minecraft launcher error.

I have the old mine craft launcher. The one used before Jeb introduced the new one. This is the one before 1.5.2 mine craft. I am trying to run mine craft beta 1.7.3 on this old launcher because the new one sucks (I won't get into specifics). Anyways I get this error message when I try to start it up. I am aware that I can't connect to minecraft.net so I load it in offline mode.

If anyone knows the issue please let me know. Also the application is "broken" but I can however get it to work if I load it from the following directory: (right click on) Minecraft Application->show contents->(now a folder appears)contents->(folder)resources->(folder)java->minecraftlauncher.jar

 

You can't. Jeb and the others said that after something they did, the old launcher is dead.
