What is up with all the locked threads ? The amount of locked threads on the forums is getting ridiculous. I don't believe this is conducive to an open & free exchange of ideas & more importantly, information... Specifically, accurate information For the most part, I think topics fall into 2 general catagories: Opinion-based and Fact-based. For these Fact-based threads, I believe it's important to NOT lock them... Because newer developers are googling their questions... And it is possible that they'll get old threads to answer their questions. So I think it's important to allow people to continue to post good, relevant answers. For example, I had a question about the arguments in the PacketPlayOutWorldParticles constructor, and I got this thread: https://bukkit.org/threads/packetplayoutworldparticles-arguments.324049/ After solving the issue myself, I only lament that I could not share the solution with others. And I'm talking about an indepth analysis that would help someone no matter what version of Craftbukkit they're building against (even a future, non-existent version). And this is not the only time it's happened. Just one example. Sigh... now I know what people mean when they say Bukkit is dead
But what exactly is bad about necro bumps in the first place? If they add more information and the original topic isn't irrelevant, then why is it so bad?
Because most of them just say "thank you" or "I have the same issue". Mostly they also made their own threads about it.
96% of the time the necro's are just saying they have it or saying thanks. Rarely do they add Informstion and when they do they just say something like "You should store UUID's" to a 3-4 year old thread. In my opinion just adding that to a thread which is probably not viewed very much anymore is pretty useless, if people still had that issue they usually just make a new thread. I like that we lock a lot of threads now, it has avoided so many necro's. If the message is still relevant to the thread and not just saying a reported method then I would consider an unlock but only if others still had that issue.

Subsequent two posts point out another issue and also solve it. I think we're forgetting that these posts are indexed by search engines. Stopping people from improving resources that might be stumbled across due to a google search seems like a bad idea to me. Perhaps we could get this thread unlocked? I do acknowledge that this particular case isn't necessarily an issue with the volunteer moderation team, however.
