   @RCR There are no pieces just what you need for Minecraft, it is a language, you need to know the basics of it.
   Making your own plugin really depends on the plugin that you want to make.

   @RCR You probably won't be able to write a plugin after learning just the basics of Java, you will also need to learn the API (bukkit). With that said, learning and understanding an API is much easier after you know the basics of Java.
