Plugin Help Group permissions fail to work

I have recently set up a Bukkit 1.8 server. I am using bPermissions to manage my group permissions for players. I set a bunch of default permissions (taken from this chart), to the "admin" group, but anyone in the admin group is unable to execute these commands. I've tried resetting the server and reloading the plugin, but these commands still fail to work. I also have a guest group named "default" which is the group that is given to new players when joining the server.

I don't know this plugin but I council you GroupManager(+NameTagEdit for prefix and suffix) (It's really better)

I looked at the Essentials page, and it says that the plugin is not available for 1.8. Which version of Essentials should I use with 1.8?
