Problem/Bug Config.yml file changes to config.yml.broken when /essentials reload is ran on the server. HELP!

I can't use my edited config.yml file. When I reload using "/essentials reload" my files changes to config.yml.broken.######### and the server/plugin creates a normal unedited config file causing things like my economy on the server to stop working. I've looked through the file multiple times and can't seem to find any errors in my edits but I am only half a days into successfully port forwarding so I am pretty new to using these kinds of files.
