I've seen many plugins which do this, but I can't find the code to do it, and I don't know where to start. If you know any code or other threads about this, I'd be glad to take a look. Thanks!

P.S. I don't want to hear your "oh this is another stupid 'gimme code' thread huh?" no i want help and/or code. But im perfectly capable of coding it myself if need be. But seriously, anything helps and thanks again :)

I'm pretty sure most of the plugins that say "you have an update" or something have that feature built in. However, if I'm mistaken, they must have some sort of repository server containing information on some plugins, including their version, and the plugin compares the two versions.

Edit: I think I misunderstood the question, I thought you were trying to make a plugin that checks if other plugins have updates xD. Derp my bad.

evilmidget38 To be fair, searching for "update available" or similar things right now is a mine field. ; )

Fair enough. Xenforo's search is also pretty lousy as well.
