    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

Show your thanks! Maintaining plugins like HeroChat is very nearly a full time job. If you enjoy my plugins and appreciate the support I provide, then please consider providing some support of your own. Donating even a tiny amount keeps me motivated and makes me feel loved so go ahead and donate!

I'm having the same problem - when I type "/ch list", it shows no channels, however it's obvious there are. As well as this, no-one can join different channels.

Sorry for double post but I found the issue!: remove FalseBookChat.jar :)

I have 860 CB and PermissionsEX installed (much better has groups and users in same file) and i am wondering if it will be compatible with the new yml file location: /plugins/PermissionsEX/permissions.yml

that one file includes users: and groups:

    No, it's not needed.

Simply make a global channel that has forced: true and talk into that; everyone can see it and no one is allowed to leave it.

In the default config, the AlertSystem channel does exactly that. Perhaps set "nick: all" and when you do /all <msg> it'll type to the alert channel.

HeroChat doesn't look at your permissions files directly; it asks whatever permissions plugin you have installed about it's own nodes; "Does player X have" - so what I'm saying is Permissions, GroupManager, PermissionsEX, or PermissionsPlus; as long as they use the same interface that Permissions uses (they should or else they're leaving out a lot of plugins that likely will never be compatible) they'll work fine with HeroChat.

Hi guys ! I love this chat plugin <3 i would finally replace poor EssentialsChat with this stuff ..

My question is .. can i please somehow make for my players type !text... | ?anothertext.... | local no prefix (like in EssentialsChat) ?

    I don't really wnat use / (/g,/h,/l etc.) just [ ! ] and [ ? ] :)

Thanks for any help in advence ! Cheers. [diamond]

Somewhat a rude comment, and this is why.... Permissions was a must update situation for my server client McMyAdmin. The client no longer supports 2.7

Is it possible to give users/groups JUST the /gmute permisson?
I dont want to give moderators abilities to create/delete channels, and so on.
Just the gmute ability. Is this possible?

I'm having problems making people auto-join a channel. I made a new channel that I want everyone to be in.
I have set forced = true and auto-join = true, but it's not working.

Does anyone have the same problem?

Wow! That sounds amazing, i didn't know you could do that. Why isn't IChat doing this :X

I will try HeroChat again now :)

    Btw, is prefixes working again?

Edit: Oh, and thanks for an awesome plugin!

Thanks again! prefix is indeed working with PermissionsEX now that i have installed the Compatability Plugin :p Only problem is i can't seem to get it right

My name appears as Ownerprefix because permissionsex doesnt support 'prefix ' it only has prefix: prefix

Is there any way to produce a space in yml without ' ' ?

Edit: I had to edit the HeroChat config to get a space between the prefix and my name :)

How do i set colors on my prefix? I can't use the normal one because i dont have ' ' in permissions ex.

Bukkit handles the reading of configuration files (again, unless Plugin authors decide to try to parse YAML themselves - why would they?). You can use the following in your permissions config and you should NOT have any issue:
    prefix: 'My Prefix'
I prefer to do it this way because I can put spaces in the prefixes I want to be seperate from the name, but if I want one to be attached to the name (like an IRC-style @ to signify moderators) I still have the option on a per-prefix basis.

Why can't you use the ' ' in your YAML? It should be accepted any place where a string value (user-defined text) is expected, like the prefix and suffix fields.

You can do colors by using an ampersand ("&") plus the color number of your choice 0-9 then A-F. Check on the minecraftforums, there are about 10,000 threads that tell you what the color numbers are (Minecraft Wiki also has a page on it).

Thanks so much for your quick response, I got a reply from the Developer of PermissionsEX too and he said to remove the info: in the yaml file, now i can use prefix: '&4Owner ' Thanks again for your wonderful plugin, my server looks colorful and alive now :)
  17. Offline

Ahh, yes so there is a difference in the YAML format that Permissions vs. PermissionsEX accepts. Permissions users need to always keep their prefix: under the info: section.

FYI: Prefix/Suffix might not be working under 4.11.x with Permissions 3.1.5; I remember having problems yesterday. I'll check later.

is it possible to convert all chat text to lowercase on-the-fly ?

Maybe you should add that feature: when someone is no more in your local-distance, you don't see him anymore when using /who.

prefix is working with bukkit 860 with the newest PermissionsEX with PermissionsCompat plugin for me atleast :)

    Hey! its the 17th! =)

Not sure if I should post this here or in the CraftIRC thread, so I'll just post it in both.

When I use the /stop command in-game, all goes well, until it tries to disable HeroChat. I then get the error from the very end of this log.

    The error:
2011-06-17 23:53:24 [SEVERE] Could not pass event CUSTOM_EVENT to HeroChat
     java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/ensifera/animosity/craftirc/RelayedMessage

From what I read, Craftbukkit can't seem to pass a Custom_event to HeroChat due to a class exception thrown by CraftIRC. (in the relayed message?)
