    OC - OKChat
    by Kalman Olah
    Latest version: 3.0.7 ( Download )
Would you like to buy me a drink? some useless stuff from Amazon? a car?
    What is OKChat?
OKChat is twenty plugins in one. If it's chat related, it can do it.

OKChat supports Permissions, PermissionsEX, bPermissions and PermissionsBukkit.
    Where can I download OKChat?
The latest version of OKChat can always be found here.
Additionally, OKChat comes with an auto-updater which will download updates to the /plugins/OKChat/update/ folder.
How do I set up OKChat?
After you've extracted the .jar to your server's /plugins/ directory and have restarted your server OKChat will generate a config.yml file, which can be found in the /plugins/OKChat/ directory.
This configuration file is fully commented and should be easy to understand for anyone.
    How do I use OKChat?
    OKChat commands:
    OKChat permissions:
    Check out OKChat on Github!

    Version 3.0.7
    • Attempted fix for "StringOutOfBoundsException". This is a java bug. Screw you, replaceAll.
    Version 3.0.6
    • Fixed player list formatting. Turns out I had disabled it. Why? No idea.
    Show Spoiler
    Show Spoiler

    Version 3.0.5
    • Added the config boolean "general.strip-log-color" to strip all color from logged chat. This feature sure is extremely useful.
    Version 3.0.4
    • Priority overhaul to fix compatability with other plugins such as xAuth, modifyworld, mcMMO, etc...
    Version 3.0.3
    • Fixed not being able to whisper players with an underscore in their names. I forgot you could use underscores...
    Version 3.0.2
    • Fixed local chat not showing up to the player chatting.
    • Added console logging of chat.
    Version 3.0.1
    • Added %time% variable. You can configure the format in "general.time-format".
    • Added "okchat.chatcolor" node. Guess what it does? Won't work well with word wrapping, due to the way it splits long chat messages into multiple messages.
    Version 3.0.0
    • Complete recode. Added a lot of features. Check the config and you'll understand.
    Version 2.2.1
    • Made %currentplrs% and %maxplrs% usable in more messages.
    Version 2.2.0
    • Added optional logging of PMs/replies. Check the example config to see what key you need to add, or OKChat will not work if you do not delete your configuration first.
    Version 2.1.3
    • Setting join, quit, kick messages to "default" will cause them to remain unaltered. Setting them to empty values, or removing them from your config file will result in the message being removed completely.
    Version 2.1.2
    • Important bugfix.
    Version 2.1.1
    • Ignored deprecation warnings. Thanks bukkit!
    Version 2.1.0
    • Added /who <world>. Lets you see players in <world>. Node: okchat.whoworld
    • Added /dnd <message>. It's like /dnd, but your custom message is also shown to the player whispering you.
    Version 2.0.2
    • Tablist names are now set 5 seconds after login.
    Version 2.0.1
    • Updated for 1240.
    Version 2.0.0
    • Added /who command.
    • Added motd.
    • Added "TAB" player list formatting.
    • Added the ability to use color codes with signs.
    • Misc additions and rewrites.
    • Added compatability with GroupManager.
    • Added compatability with bPermissions.
    Version 1.5.0
    • Compressed code.
    • Added hooks for future handlers for persistent pms.
    • Added anonymous stat sending option.
    Version 1.4.2
    • Added /m to the incredibly large list of /w aliases.
    Version 1.4.1
    • Added the /afk command. Node: okchat.afk.
    • Added the "%status%" formatting variable. If a user has DND turned on, it will be <DND>. If a user has AFK turned on, it will be <AFK>. DND takes priority over AFK. This can be coloured and used in all chat formats, including DND, ignore, regular chat, whispers and the like.
    Version 1.4.0
    • Added Persistent messaging along with the /pm command. /pm <target> <message> will send someone a message, and any further regular chat will be sent to this player, as a message. /pm clears this status.
    Version 1.3.3
    • Fixed a bug where the DND status wouldn't work if you were ignoring someone.
    Version 1.3.2
    • Added the weight value for chat formats. If a player has 2 format permissions nodes, the format with the highest config.yml weight value will be used.
    Version 1.3.1
    • Fixed a bug with replies.
    Version 1.3.0
    • Added an ignore system. This ignore list is reset when you log out or get kicked.
    • Added a DND system. This mode is reset when you log out or get kicked.
    • Made OKChat use commands /w,/whisper,/r,/re,/reply,/msg,/message,/tell,/respond...because I can.
    • Added customizable whisper, reply, ignore, emote, DND message formats in the config.yml.
    Version 1.2.2
    • Changed /r to /re to avoid certain bugs.
    Version 1.2.1
    • You can now disable custom join/kick/quit messages by simply removing the value from your config file.
    Version 1.2.0
    • Added custom join, leave and kick messages. Thanks to @Asphodan for the suggestion.
    Version 1.1.8
    • The displayname is now displayed when you use /me.
    Version 1.1.7
    • Attempted message color bugfix.
    Version 1.1.6
    • Fixed a bug that caused color codes in prefixes/suffix not to be parsed.
    Version 1.1.5
    • Removed SuperPerms support again.
    Version 1.1.4
    • Added SuperPerms support.
    • Added bInfo (prefixes/suffixes for superperms) support.
    • Added the %suffix% variable.
    Version 1.1.3
    • Hotfix to fix an issue where the plugin crashed when the auto-update server was down.
    Version 1.1.2
    • Fixed a bug that caused OKChat to throw errors when no prefix was set.
    Version 1.1.1
    • Added the %prefix% format variable. This gets a player's permissions group/user prefix.
    Version 1.1.0
    • Added the 'okchat.color' permission node. If you have this node, you can use the &1 - &9 and &a - &f color codes in chat.
    • Added the 'okchat.emote' permission node. If you have this node, you can use the /me <message> command to broadcast an action. I think it looks pretty neat too, to be honest.
    • Added the 'okchat.whisper' and 'okchat.reply' permission nodes. If you have these nodes, you can use the /w <target> <message> and /r <message> commands to send and reply to messages.
    Version 1.0.2
    • Removed a debugging value I forgot to remove.
    • Changed the plugin so the actual chat message remains unaltered. This should make sure OKChat doesn't cause issues with stuff like Dynmap.
    Version 1.0.1
    • Improvements.
    Version 1.0.0
    • Initial release.

Iv'e been trying to get a specific setup on my server for a long time, I've tried every chat plugin, and although this one comes the closest I don't think it can do what I want.

Heres what I'm trying to do.
I have multiple worlds, spawn, freebuild, and flatbuild.
I want two channels, a general channel, and an admin channel.

I would like to have it so the general channel allows players in the spawn world to talk to other people in the spawn world and to everyone in the admin channel but NOT in general chat in the other worlds.

for example from the view of a player in the spawn world:
    [Spawn][General][Guest]newbie: Hello?
[FreeBuild][AdminChat][Admin]adminguy: Hi, welcome to the server.

For the admin channel I would like players to see everything, and talk to everyone in every channel.

The same conversation from the view of a player in the admin chat:
    [Spawn][General][Guest]newbie: Hello?
[FreeBuild][AdminChat][Admin]adminguy: Hi, welcome to the server.
    [FreeBuild][General][Builder]tom: I have to go.
    [FlatBuild][General][Builder]fred: Aww, bye tom!

The same conversation from the view of a player in the general chat, in the freebuild world:
[FreeBuild][AdminChat][Admin]adminguy: Hi, welcome to the server.
    [FreeBuild][General][Builder]tom: I have to go.
    [FlatBuild][General][Builder]fred: Aww, bye tom!

I was wondering if this is possible with this plugin, and is so can anyone help figure out how to set it up?
    Hope this wasn't to confusing.
    Thanks in advance!

    Thats not what I meant.
  5. cb 1772
    OKChat 3.0.7

    i can't use minecraft's tab key... it's very annoying...
  6. Offline

That's a Minecraft bug, not a OKChat bug. If you are on a mac, it does that for some reason.
  7. i am on a mac yeah, but all my other users have this problem too...
it seems like you can only see someone in that list if he/she is in the same permissions group...
  8. I am getting double login messages with CB 1795 and OKChat 3.0.7

Actually, it was doing it in 3.0.6 and CB RB 1.0.1 as well

I get the customised OKChat login message as well as the default console all yellow login message

When a user leaves, it handles it normally with only the OKChat leave message.

I don't have any other plugins that modify the login messages, and just to be sure, I checked the config file for each plugin and searched for "join".

I made 3 chatrooms : Chat , Help , And Global. But when I try to subscribe to it it says "This is not a valid channel." Help please?
  10. Offline

Does OKChat support Muliverse... more specifically, the mvalias property?
  11. I also have a multiverse-okchat-permissionEX question. Is OKChat able to apply prefixes from a multi-world permission setup? Cause I can't seem to make it work.

Seems to be an OKChat issue not picking up prefixes from within a "worlds:" permission setting. Chatmanager, which comes with Permissions works just fine.

    Channels are case-sensitive

Is there a way to extend the number of characters when players hit the TAB button to see who is on. Currently it looks like there are 14 characters but I have seen other servers use like 24.

  14. Offline

I used to use okchat but I had to switch because I run a faction server and players would get confused when people switched factions and telling who was their enemy. Any chance you might make a %faction% variable?

This plugin is great. But I came across this issue when I was playing around with it: I want a channel called Global to be protected so I set its protected value to true. After doing this I am still able to join this channel. I use PermissionsEx and have only the following permission: okchat.subscribe. By using the /sub Global command I can enter the channel and talk in it. Shouldn't the plugin prevent me from doing so unless I have the okchat.channel.Global permission?

Now everything has changed, I'm keeping to the previous version

Having OKChat 2 replace /msg and be able to use /dnd to block messages has been a lifesaver. Replacing with @ and reteaching everyone isn't going to happen.

Channels is a nice idea but "subbing" isn't, I'd rather the players type /tr message for trade and just /tr to switch to it.

As the user above has stated, moving from OKChat 2 to 3 is like seeing it in a different language.

The only think I'm liking about this version is the possibility to silence chat, and have it local, but these can be achieved with other plugins I'm already using, same with spam protection.

Seems like this is shooting for a "one-for-all" solution, removing what made it good.

Sorry to be a bother if this is my fault, but I think with 3.0.7, there is an issue where certain channels show up in global chat to players who are not even subscribed to the channel.

For example, the Ops channel above will show up for everyone even when players are not subscribed.

Is this a known issue which will be fixed?

Thanks for all of your hard work Kalman.

    OKChat 3.0.7
    Bukkit 1.1R3

List of players shown when using the TAB key only shows up for about 10 seconds, then the list goes blank. i.e;, I log in, I press my tab key, I see the list of players. Go about my business, check it again, 100% empty.

    # Configure the server player list here(press TAB).
    # Configure the format for player names here. Set to ''(empty) or 'none' to disable.
    format: '%prefix%%displayname%'

Is there any way to have OKChat not mess with that at all?

lol I noticed this at the bottom of the plugin:

This post has been edited 81 times. It was last edited by Kalman Olah Jan 10, 2012.
My Bukkit plugins are all discontinued.
If you remain stationary, how can you ever move forward?
So I guess we are not going to get any further help from this plugin.

When I attempt to change my chat channel it says i am not subscribed to that channel. Is there a way to auto subscribe my users to these channels so that they can switch between them at their discretion without previously subscribing?

Kalman Olah, Just wanted to let you know that the sign colors / permissions don't seem to work period. I use pex but it seems to work with 99% of plugins. I even did - -okchat.signcolor to remove the ability and still could place colored signs.

PS: You should consider making who work via console.

Getting a 404 on all download links including the Github page. Is the plugin still being developed?

P.s Is the 3.07 build for 1.1-R3? Didn't see it mentioned anywhere.

[EDIT] Just read the part at the bottom about discontinuing the plugins. Shame really, loved this plug. Good luck to ya Kal

My Bukkit plugins are all discontinued.
If you remain stationary, how can you ever move forward?
OK Chat is being abandoned, so we will need to find another plugin developer to take it over.
