   How would I go about adding support for, say, WorldGuard in my plugin? So it checks to see if an area is protected or not. Thanks

   You will have to use the worldguard api: http://wiki.sk89q.com/wiki/WorldGuard/Regions/API
   The information will have to be processed by your own plugin. There's no easy way around this and worldguard is a bit hard to implement in a plugin.

   Its not that hard to hook WorldGuard and get the basic interaction. The link page above will give you the basic code yo need to access WorldGuard from your plugin.
