A Plugin/Way to Make New Players who Join My Server Unable to PvP(or be PvP'ed) for X Days?

The server I'm creating allows PvP, griefing, and raiding. However, I want noobs to be protected from other players who have been on the server and long and have the advantage. PLUS, I don't want new players going after said players, dying/losing their stuff, and then complaining about how the server sucks, lol.

However for those players that join and want to get straight to PvP'ing, I'd also like to know if there is a way to make a certain area PvP enabled, and when they enter it, their PvP stays on for good.

Also, so players can't get spawn camped, I would want to make it so they are protected from PvP until they pick any item off of the ground. Thanks in advanced, guys!
