I am not fully aware of spouts limits, However I am not certain that is do-able. If the spout client were to have a minimap/map feature built in that could be recalled via plugin then sure. However, Spout can not currently inject code into jar's/clients.
Post this on Spout and they'll say Yes in the Future. This means somewhere between in one second and when the Leafs win the cup.
Well its doable but it probably require downloading something on the client... with spoutcraft as is you can make the servers mods send things to the client. (example mcmmo has a hud and party feature that you download on first joining the server) If this was done I would have it so you had to have a map in your inventory which then allows you to press the m key or maybe right click the map to open it... maybe have a smaller icon in the top right that shows a compass overlaying the map to? idk up to that who makes it lol....
it is doable, using gradients.. I recently submited this on the bukkit submissions forums, go check it out! tobjv MistPhizzle Stephen92 Cyrusc wassilij odielag
Liger_XT5 bminimap is an addon. Mine is a plugin (the server can decide what to render)... and the first of its kind, if I'm not mistaken?
I would suggest letting the users choose what is sent to them and ran. You would be surprised how many people have low end computers. I have lost a portion of the players on my server due to the enforcement of SpoutCraft, and their computers couldn't support SpoutCraft very well. Though you do have the feature to disable your minimap feature, my question is, is their client still receiving data to render the area? bMinimap just renders the layer you are on. It doesn't look any different than using Dynmap.
The render thread (per player) sleeps when the map is toggled off, so no renders are sent until its toggled on. The primary intent of this plugin is to let server administrators decide what their players can/cant see on the minimap. In the future, you will be able to pass custom areas into this, so, for example, you could display a mini map of towny towns... or a minimap of each 100X100 zone, etc (as this will tie into my upcoming zones plugin). The current system renders only the top layer of the player area
