Bed of water suddenly turning to ice upon reinstalling Craftbukkit?

For the past month, my SMP server has had this nice bed of water that me and my buddies use for boat transportation.

The server's power was cut off and upon running the BAT to get it started, the command prompt showed a huge list of Java errors. Having had this happen before, I preserved my World and World_Nether folder and reinstalled CraftBukkit (it may or may not help for me to note that the CraftBukkit launched I'm now using is updated, it has a blue background for the cmd prompt instead of black)

Upon successful restart of the CraftBukkit server, our bed of water suddenly started freezing over, block by block of ice quickly appearing.

What is going on? Is the area surrounding the water now a snow biome somehow? Why would updating CraftBukkit affect this? I tried going into MCEdit and removing all the snow, but upon server restart, it starts to spread again.

What can I do to fix this? We want our waterways to work properly. Thanks in advance!

Updating craftbukkit did not cause this. However, yes, you are in a snow biome. If you don't want this to happen, then install NoWeather and set
This will prevent water from freezing over progressively throughout the entire map, if you don't want it in just one spot, then your out of luck :(.

EDIT: The plugin you suggested worked wonders! Went in with MCEdit, replaced the offensive Snow Layers with Air and Ice with Water (Still) and then loaded NoWeather.. The problem is -sorta- solved! At least well enough for my needs.

    Thanks!

I am a little confused though - for a whole month, it was never a snow biome.. not until CraftBukkit was updated, and I still don't think it is.. I haven't seen it snow yet either - its just the ice freezing over.

I'm hearing now about it being related to the map being given a different seed when reloaded? How can this be fixed?

I don't want to simply prevent water from freezing on the entire map, although at some point that might be useful! Thank you!

When the server crashes then it frequently corrupts the seed. Corruption of the seed will change the biome distribution and, in some cases (like my house) turn it from a nice rainforest to tundra. >.>

Couldn't have said it better myself.
