I'm in the development of a survival server and I was thinking of ways to reduce cheating or boost the apeal of the server.
A serverside texture pack, would stop wall hacking clientside packs and make my items/blocks look how I think they should to the servers concept.

I appreciate any help and thank you for reading this.[IMG]

No such thing. Textures are the client's domain, and the server visualizes nothing.. so... server-side textures don't really make sense at all.

Actually it makes plenty of sense. If you've ever played games like Counter Strike, the map is downloaded at the beginning of the game along with all of the textures and sounds. The server doesn't have to visualize it, it just has to upload it to the client as a resource.

While this isn't possible with a bukkit plugin, it could be made possible with a combination bukkit plugin and client mod. However, it would only work for players with the patched client, and the client mod would have to be kept up to date with minecraft, which could be tedious.

tl;dr beg Notch to implement this sort of behavior.

I'm sorry I didn't include a slew of vaguely possible considerations, but the simple fact is that - at the moment and with the status quo - it doesn't make sense, and that's that. If you want to get into hypotheticals, then of course it's a different story.
