How god processor do i need atleast

I wonder how god processor do i need to run a server that have maby 100 players? or maby moore?
lets say i rent 16 G memory what do i need for processor whats the lowest i need? is it better for minecraft to have SSD disc?

You'd need something pretty recent for 100 slots, first gen i5 should be fine.

Yes i know that but i was thinking about Ghz i found this one with 2.53 Ghz do i need better then that or can i use a 2.3Ghz processor with lets say 16 G and have 100 players. Im not gonna rent this one with 32 G its just an example.

 

lol 2.53GHz, that's slow. Minecraft only uses one core and 8 core server are worthless for it. Overclocked Sandy Bridge CPU would be best for 100 player server.

 

If it only uses one core whats the point of going the Sandy Bridge route as you stated the extra cores would be worthless. A simple Xeon E3110 would suffice.

Sandy bridge i5 2500k or i7 2600k can be easily overclocked to 4.5GHz. I believe Xeon can't do that easily.
