Hey guys, I have my server that myself and a couple of friends play on, and I currently have it set up like this:

Say JC's (for example) Minecraft name is space_crusher
Say I renamed him to JC so when he talks, instead of saying space_crusher it says JC

Now even when I have nicknames enabled, I have noticed that when I try and teleport to them, or give them items, I have to write

    /tp space_crusher

And It won't recognize /tp JC as a player in the game

Is there a way I can make it so you can use commands with nicknames? To make the basic stuff easier so I don't have to type their long names whenever I simply want to teleport to them/etc?

Also, if this involves downloading another plugin, that will be fine for me.

I dont believe it is possible though it may be.
You can use the /nick command to change his name (though its kind of buggy)
But otherwise you would have to use his user to tp him.
P.S.-Depending on the teleporting plugin you are using, you sometimes dont even have to type his full name but even /tp space

I already have nicknamed him, I'm just trying to use that nickname as the name for the commands

Yeah it doesnt really work like that because the server doesnt recognize his nickname but his MC name

Yeah, if the server were to recognise his nickname, then it wouldnt recognise the MC name, so he would be logged out.

On the other hand, you could create an equivalency file telling the server that JC = space_crusher. I'm sure it's doable, because it's simple aliasing, just don't ask me how.

That's what I meant. Thank you for the reply, I meant more along the lines of not actually changing his name, but making the server think that his name is JC

I'm using essentials 2.3.2 and it most definitely recognizes nicknames for commands. I've used it for /tp and /give commands for sure, haven't tried it with others.

it only works if the nickname includes the full name. Say my full name is gustebeast. My nickname is Gus. /tp gus works because its part of GUStebeast
