[Req] plugins for client

I was thinking, what if instead of all those people that wrote client mods have a bunch of random scripts, what if it were like bukkit, where you simply put the plugin.jar in a folder, and minecraft will run it, just like how you have servers running. That would make modding SOOO much easier. And it would make it easier for servers to detect which mods they have, so they can disable them in their server (like flymod).

I know this isn't the best place to post this idea, but there's not that many other places to post a request like this.

Thats not how it works. When people make a mod they are essentially adding new items into the game by editing/adding files the .minecraft folder. A jar wouldn't do anything and mods won't be supported with Bukkit until the Modding API from Notch scomes out.

Not what I what saying, I know they add those mods into the minecraft.jar, I'm saying what if it ran like bukkit, where it accepted .jar plugins instead

The .jar modified the minecraft.jar files for you, that's what I'm saying

Thats also where you wrong. When adding a mod you modify the .minecraft folder and the minecraft.jar. The minecraft.jar is just a luancher and essentially runs what is located in the .minecraft folder. And it is also easier to just manually add all the files to the .minecraft folder and also it may not even be possible. This would be a better question to ask Mod develeopers (in the minecraft forums) rather then plugin developers because as mentioned earlier Bukkit does not support mods, and they also do not make them.

Okay, just the first place I came too. And I know it changes minecraft.jar and the .minecraft folder, i was just saying if it wasn't that way. What if it were similar to bukkit, not is bukkit, It should be like a folder in .minecraft named plugins (like there would be if you hosted a server from that folder) but minecraft.jar will execute all jar's in it, like bukkit. I'm probably going to just give a link to this on the minecraft forums, because I'm to lazy to make another conversation.

So you're saying that you didn't notice that there is an entire section in the Minecraft forums dedicated to Mods?

I did, and I will post this in there, just when I get around to it.
