Help? I made a server, and I can't destroy any blocks. I'm using the recommended build. No plugins. Bump. So no one wants to help? I'm using win 7, and latest java (1.6 i believe) EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.
There is a 16 block spawn protection flag in the server.properties file, I believe that is 16 blocks each way so a total of 1024 blocks you cant change unless you change the number in the prop file. That can be set to 0 from what i have read but i use 1. you really should wait more than 8 minutes for help, some folks cant type that fast. try 1 you said you have no plugins, make yourself and op in the op.txt file and see if that fixes it, then we can go from there.
ok, this is not the first time i have seen threads on this, I have read a couple, I mainly responded with the 2 most common mistakes, I have never had this happen to me, but I run plugins, so you have 2 choices, do a search for all the can't place block threads and go through them or do the following. download, install and configure the following plugins. essentials essentials groupmanager you can get these from here http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/ge...of-essential-plugins-in-one-package-670.1262/ use the basic set up that is created to start, you can learn to modify it later, just go into users and change the first name to your user name. You will find the user file at /plugins/groupmanager/"worldname"/user.yml
thats fine, just add his name to one of the other slots they have 3 example slots in the initial set up.
what do i open yml with? # "For a more advanced configuration example utilizing the advanced features of GroupManager, see http://pastebin.com/a8ZA0j5G" users: kimkandor: subgroups: [] permissions: [] group: Admin mudzereli: subgroups: [] permissions: [] group: Builder zenexer: subgroups: [] permissions: [] group: Admin ok which one? I use notepad++ to edit files, you have to make sure to change the tab to spaces in the preferences. Change, kimkandor to your name and zenexer to your buddy's name , dont change anything else at the moment.
didn't work. im trying again with notepad ++ Still didn't work. EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.
http://www.google.com/search?q=mine...&aq=t&client=firefox-a&rlz=1R1GGLL_en___US418 heres the google search start there.
most of them are about noobs not holding down the mouse. The others do not give answers, and others are about spawn areas.
Ok, i need a cigarette and a drink how bout you? Lets start from the beginning, give me all your specs, that means, everything from this thread. http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/you-need-help-we-need-this-information-to-help-you.2018/ EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.
I'm lazy, so copypaste ftw! 1. What OS are you using (Brand and version - Ex. Windows XP SP3)? Win 7 2. What architecture is the OS you are running (x64 or x86)? 64-bit (dunno what x64 and x86 are) 3. What version and architecture is your java install? (Type: java -version in command prompt.) Cmd says "java is not a recognized blahblahblah" but its the latest, so its like 1.6 If you run any GNU/Linux, run this command to get all 3: 4. Are you running any wrappers? McMyAdmin, mcadmin, Hamachi, etc? N/A 5. What build of CraftBukkit are you running? (do NOT say latest. Say the build number.) #670 (Linux users: zgrep -i version craftbukkit.jar). Builds 267+ have the build number in the top of the server.log. Now that you've given us all the basics, now we get into the more advanced stuff. Note, if you haven't answered 1-5 yet, answering 6-10 will be almost pointless. 6. What command are you using to run your CraftBukkit server? None? 7. What plugins are you running? essentials and essentials general manager 8. What error are you getting (post your server.log file if possible)? no error, the only errors in there are cannot bind to port, which i already solved 9. What have you tried already? essentials, new server 10. Have you tried any of the things below? All, some don't apply, none work.
ok the java thing you can fix by doing a proper install via 64 bit internet exporer, that will put it in your path properly. please post your user.yml file using the code function so i can see it.
Code: # "For a more advanced configuration example utilizing the advanced features of GroupManager, see http://pastebin.com/a8ZA0j5G" users: DeadlyAzn: subgroups: [] permissions: [] group: Admin mudzereli: subgroups: [] permissions: [] group: Builder Emeril95: subgroups: [] permissions: [] group: Admin
OK, im stumped, if you put essentials on and you didn't change anything in the group.yml and the user.yml looks fine, there is absolutely no reason you should not be able to build or destroy blocks, no reason i have a server set up just like this and it works fine.
