Hello Everyone, I just reportforwarded my minecraft server because noone could connect to it. I gave my friend it and he cannot connect to it. He says where the motd should be it just says "pinging". I can connect to my server with localhost direct connect but cannot connect to it with my ip. What is wrong? Thanks for any help!
Not always a good test... most routers prevent a loopback connection. Basically it could be working perfectly fine but he still won't be able to connect using the external addy while inside the network.
HelpfulBeast lokpique Ok so what are you saying? I don't understand what you guys are telling me to do.
PieMan456 An external IP is an IP that anyone in the world can use to connect to you with. Your external IP can be found on a website such as What's my IP? An internal IP is an IP that is used within a network(Home, business ect) and can only be connected to by other PC's on the same network. You may have given your friend your internal one (192.168.*.*, 172.16.*.* or 10.*.*.*)?
HelpfulBeast I cannot connect with my external ip address that is the problem. I can connect with my internal ip address though.
PieMan456 If you read the previous posts, you would know that your router prevents you from connecting to your external ip. Give a friend your external ip, make him connect.

Not true, your ISP has nothing to do with your router unless they provided it for you. This is a ROUTER function and not done by your ISP.
