This is both a request for a mod/plugin and a request for some simple modding advice. I recently moved our server from the vanilla software to Bukkit and love it. However, I am having an issue trying to light a very large underwater city. My friends and I built a glass box that is 107m wide X 60m deep X 33m tall with a total volume of 211,860 cubic meters. The top of the box has 9 layers of water above it. The problem is that the sunlight is weakened so much that the box is very dark. I have tried using lots of glowstone to light the interior, but the light does not reach far enough to light the interior. I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to write a simple plugin that would create a block or mod an existing block (such as glowstone or redstone torches) to increase the radius that the light rays travel by a significant amount (to maintain a level 15 luminance at say 50 blocks away). I know that luminance decreases by 1 per block away from the source, but I was hoping their might be a simple way to change the value for a particular block or luminescence in Bukkit. I am looking for a server mod as opposed to a client mod/patch so that anyone who joins our server could do so without having to install anything special. I am not sure if this is possible, but I am looking forward to seeing if anyone has any suggestions or can write a plugin to help me.
