When i was running 1.4.x builds prior to 1.4.6, I had LOTs of mobs in my main world (an excessive amount of wolves, actually, nearly 1200; had to get rid of Dynmap-mobs even). Since 1.4.6, this has changed to around 127 when players are not logged in (according to LagMeter) and about 260 when players are online. The server is small, only about 4 players online at any given time, usually for a few hours in the evening. Players are getting upset because of the mobs that disappear, their farm animals are being wiped out. Most days, there aren't any animals left to breed and I have to spawn some for them to use. I have not changed any of the spawn-limit fields in bukkit.yml from the default Minecraft values; either then or now. Players are not killing them, I'm watching with HawkEye-Reloaded. Until I noticed this problem, i was running LogBlock, I haven't noticed the switch to have any effect (nor do i suspect it really would). I don't have any plugins which I would expect to affect mob spawn rates, and have not added or removed any plugins since the update. Thoughts?
Yeah.. seem to have an issue on mine with dissapearing cats actually.. no idea why its happening.. I assumed it was a plugin..
2 ideas both unfixable 1.when a chunk isn't loaded it won't have any animals loaded either it will just erase the mob like changeing mob textures on a texture pack sort of. 2. its a 1.4.6 bug. btw you don't need essentials to deny spawning i do it all the time the vanilla way all you have to do is go to your server setting and deny it.
I am going to go with its a 1.4.6 bug.. its not that much of an issue.. funny tho it never seems to happen to me on the server.. so go figure..
