Plugin suggestions for a survival type server

Hi,
First of all i would like to make it clear that i am new to the forums so if i'm posting in the wrong section i'm sorry, i didn't mean to.
okay, so i have a private server for some friends and me. it's basically just a survival server.
The aim is to have fun, enjoy minecraft prank a bit and so on...
I would like to add a little twist to the next world we play on. i've already said no to Mcmmo, so please don't suggest that. i was thinking possibly "Precious stones", but i need some other suggestions. we are pretty good at survival, so maybe something to make survival a bit harder. i am open to any suggestions.

The List of plugins i currently have is Essentials and worldborder.
