Personally I'd go with Debian Squeeze 64, it's similar to Ubuntu minus the bloatware. I wouldn't go with an old ubuntu build from april 2008, it may have security issues that have been fixed in recent distributions. Make sure that if it's a self-managed server, you download a firewall (e.g. CSF [google 'linux CSF iptables firewall']) ...and no way do you have a 250GHz processor (Unless you're a mad scientist working for the US military), I suggest you check that out.
