IDK how some1 can imagine that mcbans should steal passwords. How? It's a server plugin, so how it should get any PWs? I mean, it is possible, but mcbans is open-source afaik and if this is so, some1 had seen it already.
When they got hacked a while ago a large list of minecraft usernames and accounts was apparently found in the database. These used to be a wiki article regarding but it was removed due to a legal threat from McBans staff see this reddit post http://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/oclja/followup_mcbans_attempts_to_make_my_article_on/ The article was mirrored in various places http://pastebin.com/4Rbv5eXn That's what happened, no idea of the truth behind any of it. The fact that they have Zido as their developer was enough for me to remove the plugin almost straight away.
I think at one time they required people registering on the site to enter their Minecraft.net password for account validation. Don't know the specifics of what was found other than is was 1,000 + passwords, you could probably find the SQL dump online since it was made open by the attackers. There is no way the the Minecraft server to get the users password so people just using the plugin are safe
Hello. I made your plugin. You can download it here : <Edit by Moderator: Redacted mediafire url> I've also taken care of providing you with the sources, just so you can acknowledge I'm not stealing any passwords. Here they are : <Edit by Moderator: Redacted mediafire url> The plugin saves every user's IP in a file. When you use the /mip command, it'll list every IPs which have more than one user in the server log. If you'd like new features, an updated JAR, found a bug or anything, poke me on my profile with a link to this thread and I'll be glad to help.
