i got on and tryed to fly and it brong me back to the ground when i tryed to fly and a server that allows flying now i want to know why it's not working. also it isn't the server do to the fact that i was an admin on that server and i talked to the server owner he says it's some thing to do with bukkit.
now i am here to figer out why fly mods don't work any more.
or why you guys made it so we can't use them any more when clearly the server allows fly mod.

if this threat gets locked i will be deeply mad and insalted please try talking be for locking. as i have heard you guys are just locking plpls threats if they evin to atempt to make a threat about this.

The server needs flying enabled in server.properties, even with this disabled, people can still fly via creative mode (which is probably why they thought flying works). Also plugins like NoCheat block this.

Why not just use the function built in to the game instead of some shady 3rd person client? If your server's host has any common sense he'll use this, that is if you are in fact in contact with him and not just trying to fly on somebody's server...

After reading snakevenomus' posting and Fuzzwolf's reply, I'm rather confused. Since my current issues are related to flying, I thought this was as good as any place to post.

allow-flight in server.properties affects a) only creative mode b) both creative and survival modes?

True or false: The standard (non-modded) MC client allows you to fly in creative mode by double-tapping "space." However, in order to fly in survival mode, you need BOTH allow-flight=true (on the server) AND a client-side (3rd-party) mod.

I ask because I run a CB-1.3.1R2 (upgraded yesterday from CB-1.2.5R5) server in SMP mode HOWEVER, I do enable flying: allow-flight=true plus CJBMods client-side. However, flying with CJBMods no longer works properly and my server throws ... [WARNING] <player> moved too quickly! ... messages.

There's been talk that the ability to fly in survival mode - regardless of how it's enabled - is a long time "bug" that has only recently been fixed in vanilla 1.3.2 and CB-1.3.1 That implies that no one - regardless of mods/plugins - will be able to fly [at all/properly] in survival mode going forward. Is this true? I hope not!! I love Minecraft quite a bit. However, I find non-flight in survival mode too limiting. If flying is going to be firmly restricted to creative mode, then I honestly see no point continuing with MC. I just wouldn't find it challenging and engaging enough. I do "creative things" in survival mode because it's a challenge: collecting mats, crafting, surviving mobs, at the mercy of the day cycle and weather, the need to farm, the need to defend your constructs, the time/effort it takes to do something, the thrill of discovery, etc. All of that is pointless in creative mode: unlimited mats, no need to craft or mine, mobs are harmless, alter daylight and weather, etc. The only "creative" feature I really want available in survival is flying. If I have to do that via mod/plugin, so be it. But if flying in survival is taken away - even by 3rd-party mod/plugin - well, I will be sad.

Look for the plugin called IBelieveICanFly. It re-enables flight via client-side mods on servers with flight set to allowed. Works by faking that you're standing at ground level, so the new anti-cheat code in Bukkit doesn't freak out, so you make footstep/swimming noises while flying. :D

Thanks, that's quite helpful! I looked into IBelieve... and it seems to do exactly what I want. Its dependencies are quite steep, however, at least based on what I've been reading. It appears that one of the dependencies is a client-side mod called "VoxelFlight" which itself is dependent upon the VoxelModPack. That mod pack seems quite nice but a bit too "heavy" for my needs. (It seems it was compiled/developed primarily for use with Voxel Box, a creative server instance.)

I get a bit frustrated when I spend considerably more time setting up and debugging something than I actually do using and enjoying it. (When it comes to computer hardware/software matters, I am not a fan of "bleeding edge." I value reliability and consistency.) Perhaps upgrading will be worth the effort when 1.2.5 is no longer tenable or the 1.3.x arena is more stable. Sadly, until then, I'm going to revert to 1.2.5 for my server and clients.

Again, thanks for your info, Actium. I will certainly keep IBelieve... in mind.
