What could cause this error?

    Well that's the thing...it has never happened before and I have not added anything new. I was just asking any other developers if they have seen this error, and how they might have fixed it.

    Probably the problem is connected to the session servers?

    I had this problem on my 1.6.4 server, a player logged on in corrupted chunks, and the server would crash.

    My solution was to delete the player.dat file in the world the player logged in at, which set their location back to the world spawn. I then kept a backup of their inventory and opened it with InvEdit or MCEdit, and gave their items back.

    IOException is a networking error, RuntimeException is different.
