   I was wondering if there was any sort of way to tell when an item (on the ground that you can pick up by walking near) is near, or has disappeared. I had an idea for a plugin that would make a small percentage of sapling item drops plant themselves when the actual drop disappeared.

   I don't think there's an event that fires when an item is spawned. I could be wrong. I've heard about something like this done by detecting when the last block of wood in the tree is broken, since that's an event you can detect.
