   I'm trying to store custom information in a specific block, then get that information if, lets say, it's broken or somehow destroyed. I know I could store the information by location:info, and then just get the info from the blocks location, but I don't really want to have to save/load data. Would there be any way to store information in the block?

   There is not, unfortunately. You need to save the data yourself with a reference to the Block Location.
