XD 3VIL M0NKEY If you still host with Minecrafted; How long have they offered them with SSDs? O_O

Not for a while, you can customise your servers to have an SSD as it's primary drive, or secondary or even third. I contacted them and asked them to install it though (I pay an extra $8/month)

My server runs on my home PC:

    Intel i7-860 2.8 GHz, 12 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, Win7 Pro 64-bit.
Internet connection 95 Mbps download / 35 Mbps upload.

The PC also runs the Minecraft client (or League of Legends or whatever else my daughter is playing) while it's running the Craftbukkit server with no problems.

Your internet is amazing compared to mine.
Hell, I get faster speeds on 4G than my connection, I'm usually on 15mb/down 10mb/up on Broadband...

If I had Gigabit Ethernet, I'd get 115 Mbps down. I only have 100baseT, so I'm limited to 95 Mbps. Not worth buying a new router. "95 Mbps is fast enough for you, old man." - Han Solo

It costs US$65 per month, and is unlimited/unmetered.

I run mine off of an ESXi system, given the following specs
    2 x vCPU (host cpu: AMD FX-8120)
    8GB ram
    10GB on SSD (for minecraft)
    20GB on HDD

Hosted on a dedicated home server:
AMD Phenom II @ 3.1Ghz (Quad Core)
    16GB DDR3 1600 RAM
    128GB Samsung SSD
    Running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard 64-Bit
My upload bandwidth allows for 16 simultaneous players.

By the time you get to 10 people, I suspect they'd be lagging. I started out with 2 Mbps, and quickly upgraded to 5 Mbps to handle 10-15 players. Now my ISP has upgraded us to 35 Mbps for no additional charge.

I'm renting a Dell r200 at a i3d.com in Holland. It's a older Core 2 based quadcore Xeon with 8 GB RAM, but the price is really good. Actually, it doesn't cost much more than the electricity and internet bill if i where to host it myself. I use Debian 7.0 and run a complete BungeeCord system with 3 Bukkit servers on it.

Good man! I'll give you that, close enough :) It's actually an older Model B, so it has all the specs of the new Model B except half as much RAM :p

I run mine off of my home ESXi server, specs given to it though:
    4 CPU cores
    20gb ram
    120gb SSD storage
1gb link to my network core, but only 20mb down/20 up

server itself has 2x E5620 CPU's (4 core/ 8 thread), 72gb ram, 240gb SSD storage, 1TB HDD storage, and 5gb network links to my core.

Hoolean I'm amazed the small ARM core is able to handle Bukkit. How many players are you able to have on it?

    if my math is correct:
    2Mbps converts to 250KB

4 Players are only pushing about 6 - 8 KB (or 0.008 Mbps) on my bandwidth meter at any given time.
10 Players with overhead should only (in theory) push about 20KB (or 0.02Mbps out of 2.0Mbps).

I suspect the bandwidth on larger servers jumps with more concurrent building going on. A lot of these guys on my server just fly around and chat :)

*Also, I'm not running Dynamap or anything that would be sending out a lot of data

I don't actually host it on mine personally but I know a guy who set it up right and optimised it and it handled 3 players acceptably :)

I figure 0.333 Mbps (bits/sec) upload for each player. With 10 players, I was seeing my 2 Mbps upload maxed-out and causing lag.

I have two (for Minecraft, at least), they're both identical:

    6-core Opteron
    24 GB DDR3 Registered/ECC
    Intel SSD primary storage
Near-line SAS based NAS for backups
    Windows Server 2008 SP2
    GigE LAN
50 mbit dedicated WAN link (shared between the two)
