Sorry to hear that. New version will stop counting move events if a player gets teleported by another plugin or the server itself and should therefore fix that.

@ViralNihility : You seem to be using a relatively old CraftBukkit version that hasn't yet the getVelocity()-Method for players. I suggest upgrading to the atm latest RB #556 or using an older version of my plugin.

    Version 0.7.5
    • Removed "freemoves" option as it should be no longer needed
It doesn't hurt if that entry is still in your config file, but it won't do anything now
    • Speedhack event counter will now be reset if the player gets teleported
Whenever a player gets teleported, the server sends a event to the player who immediatly sends a move event in return (which may cause more than the usual 20 move events per player per second)
    • Speedhack check ignores players that have positive y-velocity and vehicles
Roughly the same problem(s) as above
    • New combined log summary for moving check for all violation levels (displayed every 5 seconds)
You'll get a vector of the violations that happened within those five seconds of this form (low, med, high)
    • Tons of other code changes (e.g. use instances instead of static classes, renaming, seperate listeners for different checks, ...)

well at the very least i am trying to recreate this bug on my server, but it is generating chunks to fast (being it is my hardware dedicated to this and on a local connection) to be able to test this fully

Not sure if your willing update yet. There was some good critical fixes in the newest bukkit.

Quick Question does this log everyone, i see permissions and some configs, because this plugin would be exactly what i'm looking for if i can prevent everyone but people i select from using client mods, or have it log them. Like for instance i want one of my Admins who had permission *, that basically gives them all permissions, will that in turn log him as well? I'm having alittle bit of confusion on that. I haven't installed the plugin yet, just asking questions.

I keep checking up on these people but I can't figure out what's happening.

    Next, water ladders still trigger anti cheat on my server even though I updated to the last version;

Lastly, is there a possibility to just do "kick" rather than reset? That way people may get the message more clearly.

Hey I have a suggestion that would be super helpful to us server admins. You're plugin helps detect people who fly, speedhack, and stuff like that, but one big problem remains: X-Rayers.

Unfortunately there are not many ways to check for xrayers except...by setting up traps for them.

If you could just add one command, that logs players who enter a proximity of small area we could detect who is an xrayer. Basically it would work like this. An admin would set up a trap... a simple chest hidden in the ground where no one would possibly find it unless they we're using xray/transparent texture packs. Then while standing next to/ontop of the chest the admin would use a command to start logging of any player who gets close enough to the chest to open it. The admins could then check the location and if it is obvious that the player who went there was an xrayer and didn't just stumble upon it by accident the admin could then ban them. The admins could then set up these xrayer traps all over and it would help wipe out the large majority of xrayers who are ruining the game for all of us on most servers.

The idea is the following: Use the config file to set the rules and their properties that apply to everybody, then use Permissions to exempt specific players or groups from checks as needed.

Hope it works. If you still got problems, don't hesitate to tell me. I too want this to work.

    No.

You may want to deactivate logging to the console/chat if the spam bothers you and instead just log to the log file. E.g. what trevman822 did looks like an attempt at flying. If you go to the coordinates that are in the logs you can verify that there wasn't something else that could cause these problems (like water ladders). Version 0.7.5 of my plugin changed the log messages a bit and will display instead of "total Events: 1" something like this "total Violations in the last 5 seconds: (25, 1, 0)" which would mean there were 25 minor violations, 1 normal and 0 high violations. That should give a better idea about if the player just experienced a random bug (usually results in only 1 or 2 violations) or really tried doing something against the rules (e.g. walking through walls, flying) which results (if he doesn't give up immediatly) in dozens of violations. The final decision if someone tried to cheat is up to the server admin anyway, therefore I won't implement a kick or ban option myself, but soon will give people the option to define arbitrary server commands like "reset" or "deny" themselves.

Thanks for the picture of the water elevator. I'll try to build one just like that to find out why it won't work.

I like the idea, but as long as Bukkit hasn't got persistence builtin I really don't want to do anything like that. But when it finally does and nobody else has implemented this, I'll do it.

    What LSky said.

I will try that and fix it asap.

I won't download executables from unknown sources.
Especially if every virus scanner flags them as trojans.
And the explaination why it gets flagged is complete BS.

Anybody who did download it should make a complete system scan for viruses, reinstall Minecraft from scratch and change their MC password (and the password of any other account that used the same username/password combination).

If you really want to test such mods, only use those that replace .class files (or images) inside the Minecraft.jar. There is technically absolutely no reason for a mod to have the need to replace any other file, to be a ".exe"-file, to replace your Minecraft-Loader or something like that. If a virus scanner says it is a virus, it is a virus. Also, these flying, X-ray, noclip, ... mods are trivial to make yourself, so it shouldn't be hard to write them yourself or find someone you really trust to write them for you.

    No issue with what?

We just had a serious issue with a player and this plugin.

Guest was in nether world something happened with a fireball or something player got stuck and chat had non stop messages.

Tried to tp the player to me did nothing he kept appearing at me and disappearing straight away I also told him to /spawn did nothing your plugin kept preventing any attempt to free him.

In the end I had to disable the plugin to get him out.

Looking at the log it could be conflicting with borderguard lite's auto tp back to spawn thing even the player death could have a effect.

    On the X-Ray issue:

If there were a module that logged blocks broken and kept track of a ratio, admins could be alerted to this activity.
I use Essentials to alert me if diamond and other ore are being broken, then I use Vanish to investigate further. This works pretty well, but only when I'm on the server at the time. If there were a command for NoCheat to echo the ratio of blocks broken by specific players, I think we'd be covered on smaller servers or servers with enough admins.

I thought of this on the toilet just now.

That looks cool. Exactly what I was searching for some time ago. From the looks of it launching just vertically should already work with NoCheat, just launching in different directions won't (yet). I still try to figure out how velocity settings in bukkit translate to actual movement ingame. It seems to be kind of inconsistent to me. That plugin will surely help setting up a whole array of test cases to find out exactly that.

I tried it now myself and I too don't get problems with multiverse. Maybe its a conflict with another plugin. I really hope the next RB of craftbukkit (which will incorporate some fixes for teleporting) will cut down on these random problems.

I looked through the code of borderguard lite and it is very likely some weird conflict with that plugin. That plugin has imho various bugs that may cause such problems (although I'm not 100% which of them is the culprit), e.g. in the worst case of a player walking over the x and z border at the same time a player gets teleported 3 times in a row. Plus the plugin doesn't bother to check if a move event was cancelled before or to cancel them itself if a player gets teleported. (That may cause the server to start and act weird, sometimes undoing all teleports that were done before).

Anyway I made a small change to how my plugin will handle teleports made by other plugins and hope that fixes the problem. If not, maybe the next RB of bukkit will fix it, as it has some changes to how move and teleportation events are generated/handled.

    Version 0.7.6:

    - Fixed water elevators that are aligned to the z-axis
    - Maybe fixed problem in combination with borderguard

The spam doesn't bother me, but it appears as if this person is just causing the system to trigger because of lag. I have seen it being triggered in front of my eyes and his position doesn't get reset or anything. Nothing weird can be seen either. As for the kick option, I really hope you would consider it. People who trigger these events are either lagging or doing something that they're not supposed to. I want to make that final decision, but I can't always be there to see what's happening so I'd rather be safe then sorry and have the plugin just kick the person. That way the person is obviously aware they're doing something wrong, I don't have to have to spend the entire day policing the server and if something does go wrong they can always contact the server administration through websites/forums/etc. Just an optional thing, by default switched off, it would really really help out. Anyway, that's up to you.

Thanks for your work in making this plugin work! It's really helpful when combating cheaters.

Suggestion, can you have it detect if people are hitting blocks from far away, aka extension hack, and instant destruction, aka one hit from a fist or any item would instantly break the block/chest item. I know admins can use super pick and stuff, but hackers or modders can mod this to work in SMP. Can this be detected and fought against. Also Point Teleport, would that classify as speedhack since they moved a great distance without actually moving?

You definitely have an error in your permissions file somewhere.

The extension hack shouldn't be working with bukkit imho, at least if I read the code right, there is already a limit of distance < 6 for digging, interacting with and placing blocks. The instant block breaking was also fixed some time ago, if I remember correctly.

I'm not sure what you mean with point teleport. If it is a serverside plugin, then it won't be prevented by my plugin (if it gets prevented, it's a bug in my plugin and I'd like to be informed about it).

Team Avo******, has created these hacks based on other SSP Plugins or their own ideas, but they do work, and i don't know how. I know for a fact the Instant Block Destruction, and Extended Block Hitting does work still. Maybe differently. Point Teleport could actually be a Noclip at fast speed, all i know is if it is a noclip, is there a way to detect going through solid blocks?

    With this plugin
Can i simply be notified when something unordinary is happening and thats it.
I can then use my vanish plugin and teleport plugin to vanish and teleport to the player, see if they are doing anything against the rules and decide myself if i should kick them.

Like what i mean is i just wanna be notified, and not have it teleport them back to where they were, kick them, ban them or anything.
Just notify me OP and thats it.

    Possible?

Great plugin, but I still don't understand it... Like <player>total violations : (1,0,0) ? what does that mean?

Also , just by exemple, what do you think of this :

For some reason Permissions caused a NullPointerException when my plugin used it to look up if a player has a specific permission. Could you tell me which version of Permissions you use such that I can investigate further?

I added a paragraph to my first post now that tries to explain these log messages a bit and give hints about what they may mean. In the example you gave I'd guess the person tried to use a fly mod. Something like this may have happened:

03:21:37 Player walked over a cliff without deactivating his fly mod first. Such hovering above pits is identified by my plugin
03:21:43 Player tries to fly upward (1.8 Blocks in one move, that's way too fast and high for any normal jumping)
03:21:50 Player is confused, deactivated the fly plugin, then activates it again and tries again to run over a cliff
03:22:07-03:25:47 Player activates and deactivates fly plugin in different locations for testing
03:43:18-03:46:58 These may actually be a bug in my plugin (with water elevators that I only recently fixed in the 0.7.6 Version of my plugin). The player stands in a corner and goes up exactly 0.2 Blocks per move (or at least tries to). You may want to see what is at the coordinates -1153, 8, 893 to see if there is water or something else that would usually allow people to go up in such a controlled way. If there is nothing like that, the player probably just tried (again) to fly out of the deep pit he dug.

I'm currently working on a plugin version that's compatible with latest craftbukkit, because it is rumored that a new RB is released sometime today.

But I found a big bug in craftbukkit, that will cause problems for my plugin. I just filled out a bug report and hope it gets fixed fast, hopefully including a fix before RB is released. If not, I'll have to work around that bug in my plugin (which is possible, but I'd rather not do that for obvious reasons).
