  1. Plugin: Towny

    New Towny Website!

Taking Shades' Towny a step farther.

A versatile, player-controlled land management plugin for use with Bukkit/Tekkit/Spigot/Libigot, offering solutions for pvp, griefing, chat, inflated economies and monsters.

    Features (open)

Towny includes a wide variety of features to offer instant enhancements to your traditional Minecraft server.
    • Allows players to own and manage land based on a pre-set grid layout.
      • Players join towns and purchase plots of land.
      • Players decide who can build, destroy, use "switchs" and use items on every plot they control.
      • Towns can join together into nations, further structuring a server into teams.
      • Towns grant protection from monsters, pvp, fire, explosions and greifing.
    • Wilderness Rules (Optional)
      • Area between towns is wilderness, with its own build permissions.
      • Limit players' interaction with the wild to just harvest-able blocks, keeping the wild pristine.
      • Roll-back tnt, creeper, wither explosions, dragon damage and endermen block-moving.
      • Block explosions and fire.
    • PVP Enhancements
      • Server with a strong PVP aspect will find Towny's grouping of players to be invaluable.
      • Prevent friendly-fire. (Optional)
      • Nations split players into larger teams.
      • Nations can declare other nations to be allies or enemies, further splitting players into even larger teams.
      • PVP can be turned on/off in wilderness, towns and worlds. (Optional)
    • Teleporting/Warping and Spawning (Optional)
      • Players can spawn to their town upon death.
      • Players can spawn to their town or a town that is within their nation/allied with their nation.
    • Customized modified chat. (Optional)
      • Colours, group prefixes and suffixes, nation, town, towny titles.
      • Channels for general, local, town, nation, moderator, admin and custom channels.
      • Anti-spam feature.
    • Shop plugin support. (Optional)
      • Limit shops to special Shop Plots, enhancing realism.
    • Economy plugin interaction. (Optional)
      • Supports all economy plugins.
      • Charge money for plots, towns, nations.
      • Flexible tax system.
      • Upkeep to remove money from the economy, stopping rampant inflation.
    • All Permissions Plugins supported. (Optional)
      • Perms 2/3, GroupManager, BukkitPermissions, bPermissions, PermissionsEx, etc.
    • Multiworld Support
      • Flexible settings for every world.
      • Enable/disable Towny in as many worlds as you like.

    • No other plugins, but is best with Questioner, so that invitations are given by Towns and Nations to residents and towns.
    • Questioner 0.6
    • Essentials 2.5+ - (Towny /town spawn's obey Essentials teleport cooldown)
    • All permissions plugins are supported and provide greater customization (recomend GroupManager).
    • Economy plugin of your choice.
(We no longer recommend using PEX at all. It breaks TownyPerms due to the reflection PEX performs.)

    • iConomy 4/5 *
    • iConomy 6 *
    • EssentialsEco *

I have a question I am running CB 1532 and Towny, When I put it in it works perfectly no problems at all but after I edit config none of the commands work I assume it is because the CB is different from Towny's RB I have tried the regular build and dev build both work until I change the config then none of the commands work it gives me no errors, but it does say this

[SEVERE] Error occurred while enabling Towny v0.77.1.9 (Is it up to date?): while scanning a simple key; could not found expected ':'

    Ok, I have small question.
Can i force all players to enter on town chat and they need to exit that town chat with /g
    Like this:
I will create default beginner town for all members when enter on server.
    default_town_name: 'Beginner Town'
and they will be automatic town chat /tc
-- Can we do this and can i specified which group to enter in that default_town like Member group not Guest group

    PS: Sorry for English

It planned to be added soon.

Read the first post, register.jar is required for any eco plugin other than ico 5.01

I wasn't aware about register not being updated in the future, its not broken now so it hasn't needed updates.

The plugin is compatible with Herrochat or can they do it?

  13. Offline

That would be awesome. I am asking a dev to do this on my server, if he does do this I could share it as well.

Yeah its closed. And Vault supports most permissions files and economies systems which will make towny even a smaller looking plugin :D

That shows that register is inactive now ;)
Dont mean to be rude or anything. But didn't want it to seem as if it was just something I made up XD to get you guys to switch to Vault.

Erm, how can I change the [world] It says its in? Is that possible? Instead of the normal world name...

I thought that was just cause he hasn't labelled any of his releases for anything newer than 1185. Reading the comments on that page, it looks like that's the case.
I don't think the coders are very excited about putting work into a switch to Vault. Not that its a bad system, my server runs it as well, but it is a bunch of extra work that would take away from war/plots/bugs.

Get the dev version and read the changelog carefully.

Check teh multiverse config, I don't think towny adds world names to chat yet.
  24. Bukkit: 1337 Towny: v0.77.1.0

    This is my config: http://pastebin.com/pewd9gK6

When I try to create a city, I always get this: You can´t afford to settle a new town here

It appears if I write / town new [name]

Put register.jar into your plugins folder.
  26. Thank you so much!
How could i change the size of the city: 82x161?

I have a problem with accepting invites to towns. When people try doing "/accept" it says 'Permission denied for command 'accept'." It doesn't even work for me (owner and OP). I have added all necessary permission nodes to all groups and yet it still doesn't work. The server is running latest version of Towny (v0.77.1.0) and Questioner 0.4. Can someone please help.
  28. Is there a way to default new towns to PvP?

The way I've seen most plugins swapping to Vault is usually only changing 1-2 method hook calls or Permission calls depending on how consolidated things are. The rest of the changes are ripping out whatever they had before. When I convert something over it usually only takes about 30 minutes and it's all mindless copy/paste or search/replace since most of the methods just need to change what they are hooking or slight name changes.

If towny still directly hooks a Permission Bridge when available then it suffers from Bridged Attachment issues with PEX + any Plugin that adds permissions via attachments as they aren't resolved properly. I get people telling me all the time that Heroes is broken because they are using PEX + Towny and can't get permissions to work with Heroes skills, and it's because of this interaction.
  31. Towny should work just fine with Heroes. So long as you use a permission system which supports their dynamic perms. GroupManager works just fine for that.
