  1. Plugin: Towny

    New Towny Website!

Taking Shades' Towny a step farther.

A versatile, player-controlled land management plugin for use with Bukkit/Tekkit/Spigot/Libigot, offering solutions for pvp, griefing, chat, inflated economies and monsters.

    Features (open)

Towny includes a wide variety of features to offer instant enhancements to your traditional Minecraft server.
    • Allows players to own and manage land based on a pre-set grid layout.
      • Players join towns and purchase plots of land.
      • Players decide who can build, destroy, use "switchs" and use items on every plot they control.
      • Towns can join together into nations, further structuring a server into teams.
      • Towns grant protection from monsters, pvp, fire, explosions and greifing.
    • Wilderness Rules (Optional)
      • Area between towns is wilderness, with its own build permissions.
      • Limit players' interaction with the wild to just harvest-able blocks, keeping the wild pristine.
      • Roll-back tnt, creeper, wither explosions, dragon damage and endermen block-moving.
      • Block explosions and fire.
    • PVP Enhancements
      • Server with a strong PVP aspect will find Towny's grouping of players to be invaluable.
      • Prevent friendly-fire. (Optional)
      • Nations split players into larger teams.
      • Nations can declare other nations to be allies or enemies, further splitting players into even larger teams.
      • PVP can be turned on/off in wilderness, towns and worlds. (Optional)
    • Teleporting/Warping and Spawning (Optional)
      • Players can spawn to their town upon death.

should also know ii've only seen that error once in my log since i've been using 73.2

Who knows then! Come onto the IRC if you see it again.
  4. What is the exact command you we're using when you tried to add this user? Also was the user online at the time?
The error is indicating a null field being returned for the player object, which 'should' be impossible.

you may have already answered this but I havent found it anywere as yet, As the Mayor of the town I can allocate plots for sale to my populace, they in turn can resell their plots again but it reverts back the original "plotprice" is there a way to let my players sell their plot for what they want as some now have shops Factories and buildings worth more than the plot price?

    Thanks in advance
  6. What kind of API Is there?
  7. @LlmDl

Can you announce a release for the .80 build?

Fixed it, didnt change anything. just making sure, to respond to the join question you just type /accept right?

Added in 0.73.2 is the optional amount at the end of the /plot forsale. So you residents can use /plot forsale 300 if they want.

0.80 is planned to be the War update. This doesn't mean that 0.74, 0.75, 0.76, etc. all have to come first. When there are no more immediate bugs, plots have had their additions, the 0.7* series will end and the updates to war will come.

Yes they either type /accept or /deny.

I just recently installed Towny on my own server, and it has resolved a lot of the issues we have been having with our community. Making everyone feel safer about building big while keeping their stuff safe. Allowing me to keep my server pvp without any of the grief in destroying other peoples projects or homes. Plus, people are starting to be more/less hermits and socialize a bit. Making towns and nations together. This has also been a platform for deciding teams since we are pvp.

I mostly wanted thank everyone involved with this plugin, but I do have a minor request ;)

This is the scenario I found myself in the other night. I was showing my friend around my place, but I had to let him in through all the doors since I have the switch permission for friends turned off. This is mostly because I don't want people getting in my chests and stealing my stuff. However.. this disables anyone from really getting through my doors. I still want people to come in, but I just don't want them taking my stuff.

It would be amazing if doors/switches/chests had their own separate permissions. I guess I could always naturally download another plugin to protect my chest, but it seems to me that an addon like this should already have that as a separate permission. Maybe its already implemented and I'm just not seeing it, or maybe you already have it sketched out on your doodle pads. I was just hoping that if its not already there, that it could be something you would add in the future.

Once again, thank you very much for all your hard work! [cake]
The people on my server and myself really appreciate it :)

    You have two options:
If you were the personal owner of the plots you were showing off, you could add your friend to your friendslist and give friends the switch perm.

The second, better option is to use a plugin like Lockette to manage doors and remove doors from the switchIDs in the config.yml

Will Towny make use of the iConomy bank options if enabled? Currently Towny makes pseudo-player accounts to track each towns funds. it also requires that players keep money outside the banks to pay for taxes on their plots.

Is there a way (even within the code) to make each notification of entering/leaving towns, wilderness, plots and homeblock toggled between on or off? The all-or-nothing approach in the config file is not diverse enough. Enabling these messages can get quite spammy in a populated town or world

I am using : HeroChat and permissions and essentials 2.5.5

in v0.73.1 : the chat work well , like that : [Member] Ermite Player : bla bla bla
in v0.73.2 i have that : [Member] MemberErmite Player : bla bla bla

And it's same with people without town or nation :
0.73.1 : [Member] Player : bla bla bla
0.73.2 : [Member] MemberPlayer : bla bla bla

If i turn off towny 0.73.2 : [Member] Player : bla bla bla

have tried this with my players but when you walk voer the plot it still says for sale (defaultprice = price I set as mayor) would I need to delete the plotprice I set as mayor ? and then when I do /plot fs add my own price to each plot ?
  17. Offline

The plots remember the price they were when they were put up forsale. Any plots still showing the old price, stand in them and type /plot nfs, then put them up forsale again with the new amount on the end, /plot fs $$$

  19. Dev build has the ability to turn off Towny prefixes, permisisons prefixes and set all colours on chat. It also fixes a text wraparound colour issue when used with Herochat.

However, it's also got a LOT of code changes which have not been fully tested yet. I can't vouch that it's bug free at the moment.

There is a commands mod/plugin which conflicts. I can't remember the name off the top of my head though.

I have question how u are making streets with this plugin, so if a u create a town, u will also have some streets between the plots, but how can i create streets? If i claim some land, it is 16x16, but i cant make 16x16 streets. How do u this with streets?
  22. use /town not /t

aye is there somehow a way for me to have PVP in the wilderness, but in towns that TOGGLE PVP off, it is off?
i tried to toggle pvp off with pvp on server enabled and it wouldnt let me so yeh... how do u do it'?

use worldguard to enable pvp in the world and Towny itself can be set to pvp no

Also on a note to my dilema I tried your command usage to no effect it still says the plotprice I asigned I even went so far as to unclaim the plot from my town and re /town claim, then /plot forsale 600 but I use the /plot fs 600, still says (default price) any ideas ? I dont want to reset my towny folder as I have alot of players with plots already and this would screw it all up ?
  25. town PVP can only be toggled is not forcing PVP at the world level.

    /town toggle pvp
    /tw toggle forcepvp

I see no reason for it to not use the correct pricing. I've checked it a few times.

Im stumped then, as I dont know how to correct this? I originaly set the plot price in the config but nothing came up on the towny plots I made, so I used /town set plotprice 250, so all my plots were now 250 but now when my players try and onsell their plots for more they cant as when they try /plot fs $$$ it still says 250 and I tried getting them to .plot nfs then /plot fs $$$ and still no change? I can post you my config file if you want.

Do a "/towny v" ingame and tell us what version you're using.

You need help in a thread you give us things first:

    Bukkit version:
    Towny version:
    Essentials version:
    Link to pastebin.com'd towny config.yml:
  30. Does "Protection" include automatic chest protection? I would love it if it did, because we want our server to be so that only chests inside a town are protected, if you choose to live cheap in the wild, you can't protect.

Chests are added to the switchID list in the config, so chests can only be used by people with permission to use "switchs"
