    Overview:
    MineQuest started out as a plugin to add some RPG-like progression to Minecraft. It had 8 (By default, now completely customizable) character classes (4 Combat, 4 Resource - also by default) and you gained experience by doing tasks related to the class (e.g. Warriors fight with a Sword, or WarMages cast WarMage Spells). All combat classes gained health when they went up in levels, and all classes gained related abilities at certain levels.

    Now MineQuest has grown to be a much bigger project than gaining abilities and extra health. It includes mobs that get harder over time based on a level adjustment (determined by active players in the server). It has built in economy(iConomy Supported)/town systems that are available if people so desire. Most likely the coolest thing so far is the quest system.

    Good Places to start in game are /minequest, /cubonomy (economy), and /quest (questing specific). Also poking around the help pages (Linked as more information below) gives some details about more advanced commands as well.

    Quests:
    MineQuest is equipped with a system that is being developed so that minecraft can have real instanced dungeons where a select party can teleport into a world that has traps, harder monsters, and special loot. When complete players are brought back to their original locations.

    These quests are completely customizable as they only load from a text file. MineQuest will search the bukkit directory for the appropriate .quest file when the quest is started. This means that anyone running a server could write a quest. Not just plugin developers!

    The spell system is nothing special, and I'm sure that others exist out there, but what really makes MineQuest unique is the complete package, dungeons and everything.

    If you bind a spell to an arrow and fire your bow you will have an unlimited supply of arrows. Just something that I thought would be better fixed.

    Hrmm is it just me or are property heights in minequest towns broken? Are the heights based off of Y coord in the DB or are they based on actauly numbers of block heights like 4 up from the base Y? Thanks in advance! :D

    When you get the error A quester with that name already exists, it means it. If you have a player by the same name in your minequest database then it can't create a mercanary. Mercanaries level up and respawn at the town you bought them in, so it needs to be tracked with their own quester entry in the minequest database.

    So far, I am able to set the spawn and spawn mercanaries. I can hire them, but all they do is follow me around. If I click on them, they will stay put. Other than that it appears that mercs are more or less useless in their current state. They would not attack anything I attacked, and all of these commands appear to be broken. I am using the discovery pack if that makes a difference.

    /set_merc_item
    /merc_char
    /my_mercs

    EDIT: Actually they do appear to be attacking, just with no attack animation.
    However the commands above still don't work.
    POST-EDIT EDIT: Hm now the animations are working. I don't know why they weren't before.

    I cant start quests. The Questfiles are in the Mainfolder, where my craftbukkit.jar is located at but when i would start the quest then the Plugin shows me "You have no quest named "NAME" available.

    Pls help

    when i played last time i was able to cast spells by shooting arrow but now i have to hit the mob with the bow

    I do have a server, but currently it is private since I'm only using it for testing at the moment. Once my team and I get everything set up we will go public at which point you could see what a fully configured minequest server can be.

    You need to setup an npc to make the quest available. Use /spawn_npc, and /npc_property quest.
    For example, I named my first test quest file test.quest:
    /spawn_npc Bob
    /npc_property Bob quest test
    Afterwards you can go walk up to the npc and click on him, and it will make the quest available to you.
    Once you get a little more comfortable with quests you can use the main world script to make quests available by walking into an area.

    Use /look_bind

    Running latest version of minequest and discovery pack, when a user with the normal minecraft client creates any of the discovery pack items it kicks them. I understand they can't use them without the client, but is there a way to where it just won't attempt to create the new item? I would like the discovery pack client to stay optional to my players.

    Try building swords by putting the stick and top material first, then the one in the middle.

    I believe this works, but I would prefer a more intuitive work around for newish players, in the mean time that's the way I have players do it without the client.

    Apparently mercs don't seem to be working with iconomy on my server. When a player tried to hire one he doesn't have enough 'cubes'.

    so this is a replacement for McMMO ?

    Right now I use McMMO and uQuest which is not supported anymore and I am worried its going to break soon.....

    Would this be a good replacement for both? my users love to level up and have that roll playing feeling

    Yes, with MQ you can have completely definable classes. The configurations are very complex but once you get the hang of it, this is easily the most customizable system out there. Quest writing is also really complex but extremely powerful.

    One thing this plugin doesn't have that mcmmo has is the repair skill. It's not really a big deal in my opinion.

    This is a purely cosmetic request, but could you change the /set_store_quantity command to return
    Block_name quantity changed, instead of Block_name removed from store.
    I find it very confusing when adding inventory this way.

    Well i really like this for numerous reasons. Couple Problems it seems anything having to do with RIGHT clicking is completely broken for me. Out of like 500 tries, i casted two fireballs by throwing a snowball, and yes i had the coal and yes it was bound, but i can left click with the snowball and fireball casts fine. This is even to the point of archeryy, i can shoot 100 arrows and gain 0 xp, but if i wack someone with the bow i gain xp. This isnt really compatabile with McMMO but im sure i can just turn some things off here and somethings on there and make it work. But the right clicking issue is the big mood kill. Also i am still getting that bug that was apparently fixed where if you cast fireball on a plaayer and they die, they spawn back on fire and die again and all there items go everywhere (even with the tombstone plugin enabled) Whatever details you need just let me know, i would LOVE to get this running on my private server, me and a handful of friends play everyday together so it would be super sweet.

    So i registered at Redmine to file a report for the bugs i am experience, i get the confirmation email and when i click the link "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at bugs.theminequest.com:3000."

    Interesting, I think I fixed the issue. I also manually activated your account at the same time, there didn't seem to be an easy way to reset your account.

    I haven't heard of anyone getting this to work with mcmmo. The thing is, if you have this plugin you don't need mcmmo.

    Make sure you have the arrow item id in the Archer_Types: in the combat_class.properties
    jmonk released a dev version yesterday that has some arrow fixes, it's available at http://www.theminequest.com

    you can also use the /look_bind command instead of binding your ranged spells to snowballs.

    Archery works with the fix. And look_bind is alright, but i cant cast spells on glass rather it casts through. ALSO with the discovery pack, you only gain archery xp on the normal bow not the short bow or crossbow

    Is there a way to modify at what level you are able to use what equipment?
