    Introduction to Heroes
    Heroes is a dynamic, flexible and highly configurable class, skill and experience system. Heroes itself is the hub of your players RPG experience, boasting classes, multi-tiered and fully fleshed out. Along with classes, Heroes offers your players a new style of PvP through our well-developed skill system and our weapon + armor restrictions. No longer will your mages have the ability to use diamond swords, your rogues will no longer sneak around in their heavy diamond tunics and most importantly, you can now hurl fireballs and stun your targets. The best part of this? It's your choice how your Heroes is set up, don't want a certain skill, that's fine, you can just remove the skill and be done with it! We're working towards making everything about Heroes configurable.

    What can I do with it?
    With Heroes, you can do almost anything you'd want to do on an RPG server. The main feature is our customizable tiered class system, which offers as much to the server owner as possible. Your Heroes could be totally unique to your server, it could be the reason players play your server over a server with Heroes but a different set up. The same can be said about our skill system, it's unique to any of the other RPG plugins out there. Other plugins dub "Skills" as methods which you level up, this isn't the case with Heroes. Skills are things you can do which are unique to your class. Some of our favorite skills are Fireball, Jump and Port. This is what makes Heroes unique.

    What will you help me with?
    We'll help you with errors. That is where it ends. We will not be supporting your issues with your configuration files unless it's a bug within our code. Heroes is a big plugin and it's taken a few months to develop, we don't want to spend the next few months supporting silly issues rather than developing new and awesome features. Posting in this thread with an issue regarding a YML file will get you ignored. We'll be OK with helping you understand the configuration files, but we will not be fixing them for you.

    Where can I download it?
    You can download the latest recommended build here. You can download only the primary Heroes jar or the primary jar along with all the skills provided in a ZIP archive. Each skill inside the ZIP is enclosed in it's own jar, meaning you can pick and choose what skills you want your server to run. This is so you don't have un-necessary weight on your server.

      • Example: herosneak.sneak can be granted to a "Rogue" class at level 10 - so when they reach level 10 - they can now use the ability /sneak
    • Binding Skills
      • Ability to '/bind <skillname>' to an item to right click and use that skill
      • Use '/bind' again to clear the bind and remove the right click ability
      • Currently only works for Permitted-Skills

      • Armor & Weapon restrictions based on level and class

      • /level - to show information about the level - comes with a nice interface to show you how much left to obtain the next level.
      • Set a mastery level - once achieved the user may switch to different classes and have their level/skills saved on the mastered class.
      • Configurable curves of exp to make lower levels easier and higher levels harder to get through

      • Configurable loss of exp (0.10 = 10% per death) by current level

    Aaah. I had been using otherblocks, and it works great for melee attacks, but not ranged. I'll look into it. Thanks again for the fast and awesome response.

    We may have this in the future - right now we use EcoCreature for this task. HC devs have been upkeeping it.
    Search around, im sure you'll find something ;)
    Intended - use /bind assassinsblade
    Shield is a passive skill - I think its still broken though last i checked.

                    usage: To create shops that can both, buy and sell
    Is there something wrong?

    It says I have no permission when I trying to create shop.

    Should I put the same perm to perm3.1.6?

    But if I do that, everyone can use chestshop even if he is not a merchant class..

    What should I do?

    I'm pretty sure the skill "pray" is bugged. Whenever I use it it will heal my /hp but not heal my actual hearts.

    It definetely does work. and syncs health properly. If you're having skill issues it may be because you didn't remove your skills directory and copy over the new versions of all the skills!

    I don't know what answer you're expecting to get. There's no problem with two skills being a-like.

    The issue you are hitting can easily be corrected by the server admins. It's not a dev issue. Perhaps the server admins need to reverse the learning of the two in order? Or move them to different classes. Also, the blackjack success rating can be edited in the skills.yml file. The issues you are reporting don't have anything to do with the devs or the mod itself, but center around the ones who have implemented it on their server. If you think this is an issue, I would recommend taking it to them.

    Well, when the discription of one skill is: Holds your target in place
    and the other one is: stuns your opponent.

    I expect them to be different. and when they shouldnt be i would like to know why there are 2 of them then...

    its not that, its not the chance, im totaly fine with that. it was just to show the difference. i just felt like u meaned to do something different, but it failed and nobody would noticed or something...

    blackjack is a physical melee attack that enables someone to stun someone else within a certain probability for 20 seconds after using it.

    Root is a ranged spell that can hit for up to 15 blocks and has a 100% stun chance.

    I think the intent behind them was to give blackjack to something like a thief and root to something like a wizard or the like is all. How they are implemented is strictly up to the server admins.

    btw Blackjack will block all skill use in the next version, it already blocks all player interaction, so right there it already does more than root. (meaning you can't eat food while stunned, etc)

    There was a bug where blink would teleport through glass, but I believe the devs said it had been fixed in the latest revision.

    Are u reading what im writing? The thing that i want is obviously not editable my admins. Admins cant just edit the effect of the skills i wouldnt take the time of other people if i didnt check that.

    What we are trying to get across is the triggering mechanism for both skills are totally different. One can be a downgraded version of the other as you pointed out. Another point is one is strictly limited to melee attacks with a percent chance of execution. I use blackjack for my thief and rogue classes while I limited root to my magic users. Point is, a mage wouldn't go in swinging a sword to try to stun someone. However, rooting them in place while shooting fireballs is much more along the correct class line. At the same time, a thief wouldn't have a spell to hit and root someone long ranged. Blackjack fits the class design much better, as it is something used in point blank combat, perhaps in unison with sneak and backstab.

    It's not that the skills are identical. yes, the end result potentially is, but the triggering, setup, and range are all totally different. So yeah, if set up wrong, then blackjack is the obvious loser in the two. However, splitting it across the classes and setting it up to work with certain conditions makes the skills very different and much more class specific. That's all we're trying to say in response. I don't think that you are an idiot, but I do think you should look into how both of them work in actual combat situations with different classes set up properly.

    Well, if not like this, how about: the skills discription is misleading and could make people think they are different.
    If those skills are working like u wanted them to be. Im fine, but then maybe u should make a skills which does that :) I think the idea is pretty cool and maybe u think the same and make something like this ! :) would make my happy in my pants!

    I updated my skills to 1.2.3, and I just tested it now but I only get the hearts when I relog. I would cast the spell on me, and it would say something like "already full hp", but I would only have 3 hearts. Once I relog, It comes back to full. Is that normal? Or does that not happen with you guys?

    Pre 1060 it was difficult to tell ranged attacked from melee however OtherBlocks has a "range" condition that can help with this.

    With new functions from CraftBukkit #1060 OtherBlocks 2.0 will have full ranged support - send me a post in my thread if you want try it out.

    I think what voodo is trying to get across is that he feels a blackjack ability that "stuns" an opponent should do more than prevent them from walking. As melee, it's not much good to "stun" a person when they can still swing their sword at you when you have to get in close to swing your sword. Yes, you could potentially go around them, but this is a dangerous prospect as they still have use of their faculties.

    They can still cast
    They can still fight back
    they can even TURN AROUND when you try to flank them while they are "stunned"
    They can do anything at all that does not require movement

    ergo, they are not "stunned", they are "immobilized", which does jack for a melee class, the only ones who would be using it in the first place.

    Can heroes get Citizens Compatible so that u can set up a Citizen where u can Go when u mastered a Skilltree/Class, to change it without using /hero choose path. That would be great =) so that u cannot change your class everywhere..
