    Introduction to Heroes
    Heroes is a dynamic, flexible and highly configurable class, skill and experience system. Heroes itself is the hub of your players RPG experience, boasting classes, multi-tiered and fully fleshed out. Along with classes, Heroes offers your players a new style of PvP through our well-developed skill system and our weapon + armor restrictions. No longer will your mages have the ability to use diamond swords, your rogues will no longer sneak around in their heavy diamond tunics and most importantly, you can now hurl fireballs and stun your targets. The best part of this? It's your choice how your Heroes is set up, don't want a certain skill, that's fine, you can just remove the skill and be done with it! We're working towards making everything about Heroes configurable.

    What can I do with it?
    With Heroes, you can do almost anything you'd want to do on an RPG server. The main feature is our customizable tiered class system, which offers as much to the server owner as possible. Your Heroes could be totally unique to your server, it could be the reason players play your server over a server with Heroes but a different set up. The same can be said about our skill system, it's unique to any of the other RPG plugins out there. Other plugins dub "Skills" as methods which you level up, this isn't the case with Heroes. Skills are things you can do which are unique to your class. Some of our favorite skills are Fireball, Jump and Port. This is what makes Heroes unique.

    What will you help me with?
    We'll help you with errors. That is where it ends. We will not be supporting your issues with your configuration files unless it's a bug within our code. Heroes is a big plugin and it's taken a few months to develop, we don't want to spend the next few months supporting silly issues rather than developing new and awesome features. Posting in this thread with an issue regarding a YML file will get you ignored. We'll be OK with helping you understand the configuration files, but we will not be fixing them for you.

    Where can I download it?
    You can download the latest recommended build here. You can download only the primary Heroes jar or the primary jar along with all the skills provided in a ZIP archive. Each skill inside the ZIP is enclosed in it's own jar, meaning you can pick and choose what skills you want your server to run. This is so you don't have un-necessary weight on your server.

      • All permitted skills start with /skill <skillname>
      • Allows for developers to add in their own code for new skills

      • Based on the permission-node system, ability to set the level required to learn certain permission-nodes to have a highly configurable system.
      • Does not use the /skill prefix - Permission skills copy the original command exactly.
      • Also works with non-command required Permission nodes (ie. Firelord for special armor abilities for certain classes)
      • Example: herosneak.sneak can be granted to a "Rogue" class at level 10 - so when they reach level 10 - they can now use the ability /sneak
    • Binding Skills
      • Ability to '/bind <skillname>' to an item to right click and use that skill
      • Use '/bind' again to clear the bind and remove the right click ability
      • Currently only works for Permitted-Skills
    • Inventory Restriction
      • Armor & Weapon restrictions based on level and class
      • Configurable in classes.yml [DIAMOND]

      • /level - to show information about the level - comes with a nice interface to show you how much left to obtain the next level.
      • Set a mastery level - once achieved the user may switch to different classes and have their level/skills saved on the mastered class.
      • Configurable curves of exp to make lower levels easier and higher levels harder to get through
      • Optional Health gain per level
      • Configurable loss of exp (0.10 = 10% per death) by current level

      • SKILL - exp for using a skill
      • CRAFTING - exp for crafting an item

    Im just wondering that if i have a permission skill (like herosneak for example, Sneak) do i put it in the permission-skills and the group permission config because now that i have permissions working i have my rogues able to use sneak (right format and everthing) but idk if i have to put the same permission in the group.yml for permissions becasue then any member would be able to use /sneak.

    I have nothing against the plugin.And you don't have to act so arrogant and selfless.You wouldn't even give a suggestion to as what I am doing wrong, and if there's someone who's gotten theirs fully right with Permissions and item-damage correct, I'd like to see it.I didn't say anything that should trigger you to say I won't be receiving assistance anymore, so I don't know how I hurt your feelings.And if it's so easy, why don't you just tell me what I'm doing wrong, so I can fix it and enjoy the plugin like "so many" others' are?And I never said it was rocket science, I'm just asking politely if I can get a more experienced user, or the actual developer, such as you, to guide me into the right direction as to what I'm doing wrong, Instead, I get shutdown without even a slight effort to tell me a possible cause. I've checked my classes.yml multiple times with Notepad++, and have failed to find any flaws at all. Sorry If I came off the wrong way at all, I have nothing against you or the plugin, I was just seeking help since I've tried everything there is to try.Thanks.

    I told you your problem. It's in your config, the \t stands for space or tab. It doesn't mean it's on that line.

    Alright, Well I'll use a clean copy for now.And one more question, If I'm permitted. On startup, what does "Projectile-Damage" mean, and how does the syntax for that work in the classes.yml, projectile-damage?

    YML is a pain in the ass, for the same reason why it is good for plugins. Around line 50 look for a tab. it is probably hiding there somewhere. you might even have to go line by line and delete everything that looks like a space to make sure it isn't a tab. I find the tabs happen when you paste into the file sometimes. If you want you can upload the file and link a dl to it or send it to [email protected] and ill take a look at it.

    contains an error. delete all of the spaces (prolly find a tab) and space it out. again if it doesnt work send me your file and ill take a look.

    Well, I have removed all the spaces, and it seems to be working now surprisingly.I just get spammed with "Projectile Damage" not set in the console...do you know the syntax and form of configuring Projectile Damage?Better yet, what it means/does?

    @IIGoldII I think i read a ways back that Projectile Danage is has not been added yet so just ignore the message. It shouldn't interfere with your server.

    Just some basic troubleshooting for those who are having issues:

    For simplicity's sake, uninstall all versions of Python. They're free and you can always reinstall them later.

    I only say this because thanks to Mount and Blade, pyMapper, and some other items, I had 2.5, 2.6, and 2.7 installed. Some people may not realize they have multiple versions - Python installs versions seperately, and does not perform any sort of upgrade in a normal install as some may expect.

    Next step - make sure you've cleaned up any previous attempts at setting up your system - PyYAML and wxPython.

    Install the version of Python 2.7 that is specific to your OS setup.

    Next, you need wxPython compatible with Python 2.7.

    Get the unicode build unless you know for sure that you need the ansi version. Again, ensure that you download the proper package for your setup.

    Lastly you need to setup PyYAML.

    I'll say it one more time - Make sure you get the correct package for your system. Thankfully I'm on Windows so I have all those lovely Windows installers.

    When you are done, if HeroUI.py does not work, perform these tests:

    First of all, I had an issue with importing wx - I was stupid and hadn't paid attention and installed it to Python 2.5. Hopefully if you followed my instructions you didn't do this.

    But create a blank file, and insert the following:

    import wx
    app = wx.PySimpleApp()
    frame = wx.Frame(None, wx.ID_ANY, "Hello World!")
    frame.Show(True)
    app.MainLoop()

    Save this as test.py. Run this script with Python. If wxPython is working on a basic level, it should open a Hello World window.

    Next, make sure you have the yml files in the same director as HeroUI.py. This was another stupid mistake I made.

    This should settle basic issues, I hope. If you need help beyond this, well, my understanding of Python is on a very basic level. I'll help if I can though.

    Edit: Also, the LMGTFY links were just because it was suggested that the items be googled, but the problem was that a lot of people who aren't familiar with Python probably have no idea where to start. It's all simple enough once you know though.

    Updated this, download. Try and figure the UI yourself please. Hint though, click on a class or skill, even tool or armor and press the delete key. It'll remove it from the list.

    unforgtly ppl can con the system as in the foolowing

    start as class Vagrant
    /hero choose Warrior
    get to what ever level in warrior and they diced they dont like it
    they type /hero choose Vagrant
    reset exp level to Vagrant
    then they do
    /hero choose Mage and now they start again fron lvl 1 as a mage
    again if they dont like that class the repeat above.

    Please is there a way that once they class they can not do the above so they can only choose 1 class and its master classes.

    EDIT: yes confirmed after more testing , becouse Heroes needs to have a defualt class , you can change back to the defualt class no matter what other class you are so the above meathed will allways work. even tryed with permisson nodes and again there is no permission node for the class you set to defualt. so -heroes.classes.vagrant - Vagrant is my defualt class does not exist.
    there are Only perssion nodes for all classes that are not set to Defualt.

    Well after looking at this it is a simple problem that most people have encountered with this plugin, u simply put permission-skills in the permitted-skills section

    *for the upgrade things, instead of doing that u can probably jst set the parent of hunter, avatar, and the wizard to the Human, making so when u reach lvl 50 u can change into one of those 3
