On a regular basis I have to restart the server, so I have to type stop, let it stop, then close the window, then navigate to the folder with the server in then run it and this process is very time consuming. Especially when testing mods.

Wouldnt it be easier to have a command such as restart? Is such a thing possible? I would like to hear your comments on this :)

You can't get any easier than McMyAdmin (http://www.phonicuk.com/Software/McMyAdmin.aspx). It's a web-based manager for the Minecraft server, and supports Bukkit. You'll get one click restarts, a backup interface, a built-in scheduler, and be able to adjust a bunch of settings without using the console.

I take it the software has to run off localhost rather than be uploaded to a web server? Please do correct me if im wrong that would be awsome :D

Correct, for an existing server you'll just extract the ZIP file into your Minecraft root folder, and then run McMyAdmin.exe to start the server. Oh, you can even use the interface to download the latest RB of craftbukkit :)

Urgh, MCMyAdmin is so overkill for something like that. It will just add extra load to your server and lag everyone. You can try rtoolkit http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/ad...-detection-auto-saves-remote-console-740.674/
It's really easy to use and you can simply install it using your web server, you just need to change the minecraft start.sh/bat (linux/windows) to the rtoolkit one and start like usual. Piece of cake :D
