I run a small server and hate to set up those annoying signs that advertise what ranks there are. I hope to change that with the new Rank Info plugin. Basically what it does is you type a command called /Rank that displays all the different ranks. Each rank has an id (1-10) So lets just say that Steve wanted to see what rank was above him. He would type /Rank to see the ranks and ids, then he would type /Rank 2 which would display the text in the config file. I don't think this plugin should be that hard to make and surely an experienced developer could develop this in probably under an hour. I am not much of a developer at all, in fact I just now started. Please make this for me! Oh, and if you do publish this please give me credit. ~~~RANK INFO~~~Commands: /Rank (rankinfo.rank) /Rank 1 (rankinfo.rank.1) /Rank 2 (rankinfo.rank.2) ..../Rank 10 (rankinfo.rank.10) Permissions: rankinfo.rank (Displays all Ranks) rankinfo.rank.1 (Displays info for rank 1) rankinfo.rank.2 (Displays info for rank 2) ...rankinfo.rank.10 (Displays info for rank 10 Config: http://pastebin.com/W6EbazDT Can I get a comment? venom20078 Do you want it so each /rank is a different rank? And /ranks is all of the ranks? Example: A user types /ranks, it displays every rank defined in the config file, and when they type /rank 1, it displays the first rank defined in the config?
... You can use any custom chat output plugin (/help, MCDocs, etc.) and make an alias to the command with CommandHelper. That's what I've done, and it works perfectly.
Ok, I was just saying that this can be accomplished with an existing solution. Personally, I wouldn't want to waste my time working on something that already has a decent solution... But I guess some do. /me shrugs
up to 10 ATM Please? ;( EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.
venom20078 One moment, I am currently finishing your plugin. I have completed your plugin, BbyRanks. Commands: /ranks - Displays all of the ranks /rank <1-10> - Gives more detail of the rank. The id for a rank is found in /ranks How to set up the config: Code: # BbyRanks # Add your own Rank_X's up to 10 Rank_1: Guest Rank_1_Desc: This rank cannot build or break anything. Rank_2: Owner Rank_2_Desc: This is the supreme ruler of the server! Just keep on adding "Rank_3: Moderator" and below it "Rank_3_Desc: This rank moderates the server." You can add up to 10. THANKS! We have a problem, The ranks in the config will not update on the server after reloading. It will still display the default text. EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.
This is a great idea! I had to do the same dumb thing of putting up signs of each rank. This idea is good because it gives server owners a easier way to tell the newbies about ranks instead of the newbies asking "what rank am I?" and "what ranks are there?" If some one makes this I will totally download and use it on my server.
He probably didn't upload it to BukkitDev. As I said above: Most people have already found the solution to this. Or, maybe he plans to, just hasn't had time.

Any custom output plugin (MCDocs, any help plugin) combined with a command alias plugin will give you an elegant solution. Apparently not good enough for the OP...
Cool thanks. I found the download link and I'll be trying it out! Thank you for you help and information!
I won't be uploading it to BukkitDev. Reason being, as you said, there are so many other ways of doing this. And, maybe even better. I could make the config much better than it is, but I don't want to spend a terrible amount of time on this.
