Random or Arbitrary spawn locations

My friends and I are starting a private survival server. Our intentions are thus: We will start at random, or admin assigned locations in the world. We will have seasons, hunger, etc to deal with and will begin building our own little homes/farms/etc. At some point, we will each pack up some materials and pick a coordinate to meet and build a first city. In order for this to work, I need a way to spawn us separately. It would be a bit lame to just have us run for 30 minutes in different directions. And we would like to use the same method for others that we will be adding in later.

Plugin suggestions? Or another way to do it? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
