    Java is already installed.

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_24-b07)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 19.1-b02, mixed mode)

When I ran the command to install craftbukkit, error occured:
    /home/minecraft$ java -Xms128M -Xmx128M -jar craftbukkit.jar nogui
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Could not create the Java virtual machine.

I don't think that was necessary.

It looks like he did not have enough ram to start the server, this happens to me when I try to run about 5 gazllion things when testing my plugins. I highly doubt he has 256GB of ram and it was more like 256MB. It's most likely that he just increased the ram allocated from 128 to a bit higher. 128MB it's hardly enough to run a server, especially if your trying to play on the same machine.
