   This isn't really about Bukkit or Minecraft, but relates to port forwarding, which some of you know about.
   
   I managed to get port forwarding working, and ran a bukkit server for over a year. When you go to a port checker to see if its open, it shows 25565 as closed until I run my server. Only while its running does it show that the port is open. why?
   
   I ask because I am trying to do port forwarding for a different game, and I cant tell if the ports aren't forwarded correctly, or if the game just isnt using them, to make them appear open, like the bukkit server does.

   If the server isn't running to reply, then yes, it will appear closed.
